We get this question a lot when we have a raffle! I’m going to try to made this note “stick” to the top of this thread to help answer this question for everyone.
The term “forum name” is old, leftover from our website’s early days when it was nothing but a forum. The Forum Name was the name that displayed when you posted something publicly. A few years back it became called the “display name” and now if you look at your Windstone profile you will see “Name (required)” with your name (or your “forum name”) in the field – and below that field it says “this can be seen by everyone”. The name you put in there can be different from your user name or your real name. When you register for a Windstone account I believe that your first name automatically fills into that field. You may edit your “Name(required)” by logging into your account and clicking on “edit profile”.
“Forum names” seen on this page: Above my post is “etruscan”, “Moose73” above her, and “karen” above Moose73.
Melody asks for your “forum name” in raffles so that she uses the correct name when announcing that you have won the raffle in the forum.
