        Hi Melody!

My mum and pop and other half of me – Ethan, have known for a long, long time that I want to be an artist when I grow up. Papa tells me that I need to learn something else besides art but I got to meet Mr. Scott Gustafson and Mr. James Christensen and they both said to do what you love. I guess my mum would be a writer and illustrator if she didn’t have Me and Ethan. She has soap crayons in the shower so that she can write on the walls if she thinks of something to write when she’s there 😕 There’s also lots of paper and paint and chalk and crayons and brushes and charcoal pencils and clay and fabric adn yarn and silk threads and glue and I don’t know what all else, oh yeah, GLITTER, Lots and LOTS of GLITTER!!!!

I guess I better ask my question. What kind of clay did you use to make the flutterbye mice in the picture in your gallery? I need to know so mum can help find some for me. When Ethan and me were little, mum wouldn’t let us have any coloring books ’cause of the lines. We could have all the papers and colors and paints we wanted and even one of the walls in the faimly room but no coloring books. When we got to kindergarden they gaves us coloring books and papers and told us we had to draw in the lines. we just colored on the back where ther weren’t any lines. Mum had to go talk to the teacher about it cause the lines always runed my drawngs. Ethan turned into a one color scribble. Do you think my mum got in trouble with my teacher cause we wouldn’t color were she wanted us to? Any way, I love your art. I love your drawings and I love your sculptures. you don’t do just one thing. You do all sorts. That’s what I want to do. So what kind of clay do I need? And do I have to draw it first or I can I just let it out of my head?

        Thank you from,
Sean Campbell (Ethan is older but I’m taller)

Have to admit I’m curious what you use to make sculptures in myself. This is a good question. 🙂

While hiding somewhere in my head I'm on the lookout for white oriental dragons! Please let me know if you know of any available. Thank you!

            Thank you from,
Sean Campbell (Ethan is older but I’m taller)I used a type of water clay called Critter Clay made by Aves studio.. I don’t know if it is available everywhere, or just in the US… it is a clay used for taxidermy! I guess it is supposed to be used to sculpt the noses and eyelids of stuffed animals.
There are lots of different types of clays available to use that may be easier to use than critter clay though. Sculpey is a good choice to start with, nice and clean, easy to detail and it can be baked in the oven to make it hard and permanent.
You can sculpt any way you want, it is not necessary to draw your ideas first.
Thank you for the compliments! I am so glad you like my stuff!
