Hello! :hi:
I just discovered that my long-cherished little kitty was a Flap Cat. Thankfully, I caught on before she sold for $10 on eBay. (Whew!)
I knew she was special, but I bought her when I was about 13- or 14-years-old in the late 1970s and I had no idea she was quite this special. 😕
She is in perfect, pristine condition — down to the stamped felt label on her underside. She has been displayed in a glass-fronted cabinet for 30-plus years.
She’s a bird-winged Flap Cat, a chocolate point Himalayan with iridescent bluish-purple wings and a dark purple gem in her collar. Her eyes are shut and she stands about three and a half inches tall.
Would you be kind enough to give me an educated guess as to her approximate value?
I would love to keep this piece and I may end up doing so, but I’m recently divorced and seriously need to downsize.
Thanks in advance for any help, 🙂
Kate
October 25, 2010 at 2:58 pm #830345You should check out this page. It is pretty good. It is in the New Member Introductory area under “Useful Links.” Just change the “type” section to “All” or “Mint” and you can enter flap cat or cat in the search.
http://ravnheart.com/windstone/index.phpOctober 25, 2010 at 3:40 pm #830346Hi! The cats are really popular at the moment, should you choose to sell you should be able to get a decent price for her. (if you do sell, you may want to check the Windstone packing tutorial on eBay before you ship it) Here’s another link you may find interesting, it can tell you when your piece was made, how much it sold for originally, etc. Astral Castle’s Windstone Encyclopedia

Kate Ravnheart’s database is an invaluable tool to way to help get an idea of what to expect on ebay, but it is very hard to predict what an individual piece will go for.
