I have an unpainted PYO flap cat but the person who gave it to me can’t find the eyes anywhere!
What size are the eyes, please, and where can I buy replacement eyes in blue? Are the back of these eyes flat or do the have a wire attached or what?

Also, one wing has a jagged cracked edge and I’d like to sand it down before repairing it so can I use regular sandpaper or a Dremel tool on this plaster without causing any more damage?

I truly appreciate any and all help! Thanks in advance!

I can’t give advice on the sanding. Haven’t done it. BUT I can tell you about eyes. The eyes are flat backed. No wire on the back. You could try asking Windstone for a replacement set of eyes. They can be quite nice about such requests.

If you want to buy eyes, this forum thread has information on sizes and such.

There are plenty of secondary markets for eyes- Dreaming Tree Studios is popular with many, and I’ve hear of a couple taxidermy supplies- Tohickon comes to mind. I haven’t painted a flap cat and don’t know the size, but the sticky thread would have it.

I have sanded a damaged Windstone with a small weak dremel, it did great. I imagine hand sanding with a finer grit would work also. However, perhaps the damaged area could be filled in with something like Apoxie-Sculpt without sanding, not seeing the damage?
P.S. it’s gypsum, not plaster, and does act different than plaster or ceramics do.

Email Susie, I bet she would help you with the eyes.

I recommend either not sanding, or if you need to do so, gently trying by hand with small pieces of fine grit sandpaper. It does not take much to sand the Gypsum.
