This is my first time painting one of these. I am not an artist, but am a huge fan of fantasy.
I painted this as a gift for my daughter. The first gifts I ever gave her when she came home from the hospital as a baby was a Windstone Fledgling Rainbow Dragon and a Windstone Baby Unicorn. Now she is turning 8 and wants more. I decided to give it a personal touch and paint my own. As a backup plan I got her one of the tiny curled up dragons in Elven color. I’m also getting her the smaller PYO dragon that we can work on painting together. It will be a Windstone birthday and Christmas!
I like how it turned out although the details are poor compared to some of the examples I have seen on this page. Truly some amazing stuff on here.
UPDATE:
I gave the unpainted PYO dragon to my daughter early. We decided to paint it as a Christmas gift for her Oma (my mom). She is also a fantasy lover, so will appreciate this from her.
The colors and basic design were all picked by my daughter. I helped her stay within the lines in places.
Hers looks more like a magical creature where mine looks like something you would find roasting squirrels in the back yard. 🙂 She said this dragon would live by the ocean.

November 14, 2014 at 10:34 pm #921836Beautiful! What an awesome gift for your daughter!
November 14, 2014 at 11:53 pm #921839The red black mottling was a happy accident. Was going to paint the dragon red. Didn’t like it. Went back over with black and got this.
November 15, 2014 at 12:47 am #921844Magnificent work! Keepers are always my favorite PYO models, and I love how intense she looks, all decked out in red and black. For your first PYO, you really hit it out of the park!
Finding happiness again.
November 15, 2014 at 3:13 am #921849I think this is beautiful!! Your daughter’s very lucky to have a mom who puts so much love and thought into her gifts. 🙂
November 15, 2014 at 2:46 pm #921862Wow! Very nice! What’s it going to be holding in its clutches?

The one painted after this will be a father-daughter piece. I’m her dad. 🙂
I will be sure to update with pictures.
I’m not sure what I will have this dragon holding. I need to ponder that some.

Oh, whups!! Sorry for assuming you must have been mom. I think it’s because of my own two parents, my dad could craft stuff (he built our swing set) but my mom was the one who did painting and sewing. That’s really awesome you were able to do this for her though. Looking forward to seeing your next piece!
