Okay, so here’s some picks of my Oriental dragon that clearly got left in a warm place in his box too long 🙁
Some of the paint on his scales got rubbed and the cardboard from his box is stuck on him. It’s been a while as I’ve been afraid to try to do anything about it, but maybe someone here has come across this before?
March 14, 2013 at 1:55 pm #894621I haven’t personally come across that but most Windstone pieces are fairly tolerant of a little water to clean them. When I brought a bunch home I bought from someone, they were dirty and had caked on dust and smelled bad but I showered them off in my tub, wiped them with a soft wet cloth with mild soap and then rinsed them off, and then let them air dry on a towel after I gently patted them dry and they came our looking like new again. That would get yours clean but if you have any surface or paint damage that won’t wipe off, you can always go buy acrylic paint and try to mix some to match the colour and fill in paint chips or flaws that way. That’s what I have done for repairs on mine. For larger chips, I use that poly filla stuff you can fill drywall holes with and then when it’s dried, I sand it and then paint it and then after a few coats of paint, I use a little varnish over it to protect it.

March 15, 2013 at 12:25 am #894657If it doesn’t wash off with a mild soap and a soft cloth (personally, I use very soft microfiber cloths with a little bit of room temp water and dawn dish liquid for especially yucky windstones) then you may have to sand it a little bit and repaint the areas.
For emerald I have found several paints that match well, or sometimes you can get paint directly fro the factory. Where this is a retired color I am not positive if you can though.
If you have trouble making the scaled smooth, I find that using “Citadel Green Stuff” for repairs like this works wonders! It paints on and dries perfectly level and in cracks and pits with just a few coats. It’s amazing for oriental repairs on scales and small things like this.

Oriental & Emperor chest scales give me conniptions, I could use that stuff. Emerald is pretty safe to wash, just never try it with a ruby or red fire. Also, if you want it to look right when you repaint the area, do a basecoat in black before putting the emerald paint over the top. The only match I know of comes from the factory, so I hope Melody can send you some.
