Holy Crap! That has got to be one of the coolest griffins I have seen on here. Incredible! I actually sat back when the first pic opened up!

Awwwwwwwwww, Thanks Ski! I guess it’s not as bad as I thought? Oh, I asked Nirvanacat for advice on it since we ended up just rambling into a conversation about PYOs or something while I kept PMing her repeated thankyous for bidding and WAY OVERPAYING on the PYO Wolf I had on ebay.

I guess you could say she got a sneak peek. 😀

That’s right, she was generous with the PYO wolf. Slipped my mind. In that case she really deserved the sneak peek. 🙂

Say, drag0n, how many hours did you put into this guy? I’m just curious for an estimate – Cerberus is booking 20 hours and still has at least 5 more hours of work left for me. I’m wondering if that is by comparison a lot or a little?

              #519401

FYI — Nambroth mentioned before that she puts 20+ hours into the griffins that she does for Windstone.

You know, I just noticed that he is perched precariously on that flower bed….

Thanks for the info, Mimi. In that case I’m not doing badly at all. 😀

It sounds like you’re right on schedule! 🙂

I saw in the other thread that it also takes Watergazer 20+ hours to do her griffins too.

Normally I can put between 20 to 30 hours plus on them. This griffin imparticular just DID NOT WANT TO WORK WITH ME! It took almost 40 hours. Blending with black is really though because once you screw up it take SO MANY COATS of paint to fix it and orange and yellow REALLY don’t cover black well. I tried putting some flames on the wings too, but failed miserably. It looked really cheap, like those resin statues I loathe.

The brown griffins for myself and Keplily were the other two that took alot of time. Other then that they usually take about 20 – 25 hours.

The Ki-Rins and dragons take like half the time. The wolves are pretty quick too, but I haven’t done a very detailed one yet, so I’m not sure how long that will take me.

I hear you on that problem with covering over a mistake done in black. I did that on Cerberus’ haunch and hope I never do it again. It one of the spots that’ll fill another few hours of work on him.
It sounds like 20+ hours is the normal amount of time spent on a detailed griff. In comparison, my first griff’s 8-9 hours are puny!

Well, some of my griffs are less than that. My first one I did in a single day, just five or six hours!
