April 3, 2011 at 7:45 pm #841619beautiful! i love the wood duck. the colors are so vibrant and looks amazing. i’m also liking the more painterly style of your close ups. very nice!
April 3, 2011 at 8:43 pm #841623Beautiful… but I am absolutely in LOVE with that cormorant!
April 3, 2011 at 9:11 pm #841630SQUEEEE at the Cockatiel!!! SO CUTE!
He’s even doing the “gruff old man” thing that always used to crack me up when Joe did it.. when they puff up their feathers around their mouth like that and kind of hunker down they remind me of an old man with big mustaches harrumphing! XD

April 3, 2011 at 10:56 pm #841638Cockatiel Cheeks is still my favorite! I love that one, though the crane is a close second.
April 3, 2011 at 10:57 pm #841639oh gosh….white naped crane is a close second…it took me a sec to remember there’s more than one crane pic!

A lot of the guys that enter these are professional duck stamp artists. Meaning that they literally just enter duck stamps all year, and live off of the earnings and print sales! Richard Clifton is a guy that wins nearly every one I enter. When I figure out his prize winnings alone (even considering taxes he pays on them) I reckon he’s made 3-4 times my total income last year, so that’s a pretty big incentive for some of these guys! I say ‘guys’ because I only know of two or three other women that consistently enter these.
