I love “God is an Astronaut”. I was just about to say, post-rock is my all time favorite music to listen to, especially during the creative process. Some of my favorite groups:

          Sigur RΓ³s
          Hammock
          Eluvium
          Joy Wants Eternity
          This Will Destroy You
          Gifts From Enola
          Caspian
          Explosions in the Sky
          The American Dollar
          Russian Circles

          And many, many more! <3

NICE!! πŸ˜€ 8) i listen to most of those to!! i use pandora.com for constant music play so usually there is always something different and the music doesn’t become stale.

I usually listen to audiobooks. There’s a radio station that puts theirs online, and when I’ve heard all their new ones, I find something on librivox.com, which has a nearly unending supply.

Same here, I usually have it on last.fm so things don’t get too redundant! πŸ˜€

That’s a cool idea, I’ve listened to audiobooks while I’m at work but not while creating. Have you heard of audible.com? That’s another good online resource for audiobooks. πŸ™‚

                  I listen to Pandora.com sometimes,
Sometimes I tune in to http://www.di.fm/ Digitally Imported, when I am in the mood for mindless hours of trance (I like the vocal trance station).
Other than that, my playlist includes:

                  Opeth
                  Porcupine Tree
                  Yoko Kanno
Instrumental sound tracks, such as from The Lord of the Rings
                  Hybrid
Our Lady Peace (their older stuff)
                  Classic rock (Led Zepplin)
                  Balligomingo
                  Incubus
Annnd a bunch of other random stuff!

Hey, Kaki King is awesome! *high-fives* I also like Rodrigo y Gabriela. =) Have you heard of them? I just bought their newest CD (11:11) today!

*rubs chin* Other than that, it’s not often I like more than a few tracks on any CD…so my ipod is pretty random (and so is my taste). Newer favorite songs recently would be “Closer” by Kings of Leon, “Lose You” by Pete Yorn…and I also like that song “Meet Me Halfway” by the Black Eyed Peas. And those are the only songs by those artists I like. = Mystery.

Hmm, lots of 80s crap, classic rock, techno (The Crystal Method, mostly)…some j-pop, haha…OH, I do like most of Bond’s stuff, also. I have like three of their CDs!

I don’t really stick to just one genre for painting or whatever to. >.> I have a playlist on my ipod called “Still Obsessing”…which is just all the songs I currently enjoy hearing repeatedly. It’s usually set to that. πŸ˜€

Wow! Am I getting old or what–didn’t recognize hardly anything here that all you listen to1 πŸ˜† I did recognize Pink Floyd and Balligomingo and I think that’s about it. I’m more of the New Age spa/mediation music type. I sometimes get an idea on a name or a theme by just listening to this music. Of course, getting the idea and putting it to paint is a different story but I did commission an idea I got for a couple of dragons based on a CD I have of Jon Jenkins ‘Flow’. Some of the things I listen to–yeah, I know, I’m boring [sigh]

                            Harold Budd
                            Jon Jenkins
                            David Helpling
                            Patrick O’Hearn
                            Moody Blues
                            Vangelis
                            Yani
                            Robin Guthrie
                            Engima
                            Michael Shrieve
                            Steve Roach
                            Clannad
                            Enya
                            You get the idea….snooze

Oh no the Moody Blues!! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ Oh man I grew up thinking that Knights in White Satin was the best music ever. Well that and Fraggle Rock’s See the Beetle Sitting on the Stone.

I’m so surprised that someone else has heard of Bolligomingo! I love that CD so so so much. I wish there were more.
