I like to think this has turned into a general discussion of our sad feelings over losing eBay items. 🙂 No worries.
Drag0n, goodness, really? FIVE of them? I don’t think ill of them at all but it does leave one to wonder what they are doing with all them, same color and all… an OW shrine perhaps?? 😆
I’m wondering if they plan to sell them later for a profit. I understand buying one, but going after 5 of the same thing, color and all, I don’t get it. Only thing I can figure is they are planning to resell later in hopes of making more money off them than they sold for originally.
Course they could have decided they had 5 friends who just had to have one too. Perhaps they were for gifts. Who knows.
If so, I wish I was one of those friends who got one!

Yea, you and me both!
Sometimes I get mad about stuff like that too. I know it’s nothing I really have a right to be mad over, but because of that, that’s 4 other people who couldn’t get one who may have really been dying for one, like you were for that oriental. It’s just that they are so limited it seems unfair a little. I have my Emerald Peacock so I’m not too sore about it at all cause I like him better then the Violet Peacock, but it must irritate other people who were bidding on them I bet.
Got a busted Windstone?

eBay now hides the bidder IDs on most auctions so we have no choice in this.

That is why I don’t begrudge them one bit for putting up these wonderful pieces and getting large amounts of money for them. I love the fact that they offer some limited editions of the pieces that can’t be production. It gives most people a chance to have something special. My biggest fear is that they will stop selling to stores and be direct sales only. That would be a tradgedy! So, I hope the ebay pieces continue to make good money even though I would LOVE to get one at a deal! 😆
This is correct. We are struggling to replace the sales from the hundreds of stores that have closed over the last four years and preserve enough cash flow to continue. The eBay auctions add value to our new products and also to every old collectable piece that is out there while it provides great advertising to new collectors. Do I snipe auctions on eBay when I am after a piece of equipment we need for the shop? You bet I do, but I have set a limit to what I am willing to spend and I am often out bid. Do I put in early high bids and let them ride? Yes, I do that too if it seems like a better strategy for that particular auction.
November 27, 2007 at 2:30 am #639272Yeah, I was pretty disappointed on the loss of the oriental, mostly because broken ones I wouldn’t feel guilty over repainting to suit me don’t come along very often. Sure I could get a mint one, but then I wouldn’t be able to paint it.
Think we could talk Windstone into auctioning off a few unpainted ones? I would dearly love to paint an oriental from scratch.
I am excited about the keeper PYO dragon, should it ever make it into production, and I do so hope the grand pegasus becomes a PYO, though I know for those who aren’t talented at painting horses dread it, considering how many great artists we have on here, I am sure that folks can still get a paint job they love for a few extra bucks.
Perhaps Windstone might want to consider auctioning paint jobs on sculpts…highest bidder gets to custom order colors, by one of the Windstone painters. Just an idea, but that would be uber cool.
Course the list of available painters would have to be included, and general design would be up to the painter, but colors and possibly theme would be neat to be able to request.

Yes, they do this to protect bidders from scams and fake second chance offers. 🙂 But back when it was an option you were able to opt for it when the auction merited it.

*cries* I feel sick! I got out sniped by just 2 seconds on the Orange Bronze Spectral…. *sniff sniff* I worked so hard to get up the money too. I was shaking cause it hadn’t spiked up too high for me. I hope Olympia does another one since it didn’t go for nearly as much as the Fire colored one.
I hope so, too. What did this one go for?

Holy smokes!! 0_0 I wonder if we’ll be seeing those OWs again in the future!
Sorry about the riser, hon ;_; I hope Olympia makes more…and I hope she makes more copper fire scratching dragons for me! 😳Melody said that Olimpia is making a Spring green and Cinnimon Pearl one too
She already has them made. They’re just waiting at the factory right now. And I tell you what, they’re gorgeous. 😯

November 28, 2007 at 5:38 am #639280How many times do we have to say that “ALL IS FAIR IN LOVE AND E-BAY??
I’m sorry but I’m really getting tired of wasting the forum time talking about poeople that have more money and can out bid people.
We have all had losses like this and have to just pick up the pieces and move on. I lost the 1st 23KT Gold Leaf Hatching Empress and I had a bid of $1950 and got out bid at the last second.
I’m sorry but I’m hoping that we can stop worrying about who has the ability to get whatNovember 28, 2007 at 6:14 am #639281Wasting forum time? If people want to discuss it, it’s their time, not yours or the forum’s. Bandwidth is getting wasted, maybe, but not time.
November 28, 2007 at 10:07 am #639282And not every topic is gonna be of interest to every person. I am sure some people feel the same way about topics you or I have started, too.

I’m sorry but I’m hoping that we can stop worrying about who has the ability to get whatYou know what? If you don’t like people griping about it, don’t read the topics. Nobody was specifically addressing you, and far fewer than you realize even know you have more than one of a LE piece. We’re allowed to think it’s kind of selfish for people to have multiples of one piece just as much as people are allowed to buy multiples.
I, personally, know I will survive if I get outbid on ebay, but I do often wonder what in the world people are going to do with more than one piece other than eventually resell. It seems kind of redundant to me. Since I can’t usually afford them anyway so I really don’t feel like I’ve been cheated out of something somehow.
