No, someone exploited a hole in Windstone’s office Internet and used the mail server to try to relay about 400,000 spam E-mails resulting in a combination of over one million spam and non-delivery report e-mails clogging up the server. It was going on for five days before I was asked to have a look, and as soon as I saw it I froze the server and locked it down. It took the last 24 hours to clean it up and harden the security so it doesn’t happen again.
Just a few moments ago I received confirmations from the last few ISPs that they’ve unblocked Windstone and they are free to send E-mail to all the large ISPs again.
So all is well, and I’ll retreat back to the shadows.
