edited pictures

I’m wondering why so many of the pictures that are posted on the threads have been edited out or deleted by photobucket? Also some of the messages just have the quote marks and maybe an emoticon, but no words. This is happening on a lot of threads, yours and others. I tried asking Snapdragon but his thread is locked. 😕 😮 😕

I’ve noticed that when something is quoted multiple times, the background in the quote changes color but the text doesn’t. The text is still there but is hidden by the background being the same color. What I do to see the hidden text is I highlight it so there is contrast. I don’t know why all the pictures are missing though. It’s probably invalid links (I know Melody can’t get hers to work) or the pictures are too big and are being blocked.

When the forum was upgraded, one of the new features is that the forum can detect image size. If an image is too big for what the forum will allow, such as in your signature, the forum simply won’t show the image, giving that ‘edited out or deleted’ error from photobucket. That is one reason. Another reason is if an image was moved from it’s folder/location on photobucket to another folder/subfolder/or deleted by the photobucket account holder, the link will become invalid (the image moved, so the link is pointing to nothing essentially). A third, and a very big if (I’m not sure if it is an issue with the updated code), but potentially, a character may exist in the image name that isn’t liked by the new code (again this may not even be an issue… it’s much more likely to be the first two issues).

I believe the background issue on the multiple quotes threads is an issue with the template used by the forum. The template was created by someone Snap knows and had create specifically for this forum. It would have to be fixed by the template maker.

I know why I am unable to get images from photobucket, but I have no idea why other people’s images don’t work! If you can write down what is happening and email a clear description of the problems to me, I can send the problem to Greg, he is the web person in charge of the “cosmetic” part of the forum.
