would it work for no hair??
May 10, 2007 at 3:17 pm #572670How did the Aveeno work?? I have used Burts Bees Baby bee Lotion with great success on my son. Daughter is allergic. Have you tried prescription hydrocortisone?? Also, have you tried PURE, plain shea butter? Most stuff on the market isn’t pure. You can get both pure & unrefined(also pure and stinks) shea butter from here:
http://shrinkies.net/soap.html
Also, her soaps are hand made and cold pressed, natural ingredients. Her stuff has worked wonders for all of us here at home. I know it’s a hair extension site, but she is also owner/operator of Creekside Soap and just wonderful! Resonable prices too.
Good luck! Let us know how it goes!! Oh, have you contacted her pediatrician? I wonder if other allergies could be cauing the excema?
May 10, 2007 at 3:19 pm #572671Oh I forgot, Aveeno makes a bath additive that is also amazing!! It works wonders on diaper rash & dry skin…..I can’t remember what they call it, but it’s a powder and goes into the tub.
May 10, 2007 at 3:59 pm #572672The aveeno seems to be helping…She’s scratching alot less today and that in itself will help alot. Her back and legs are looking better too, I had pure shea butter for my belly when I was pregnant along with pure cocoa butter which we’ve tried too…they will help prevent flare-ups but don’t seem to help much when the rashes are already there.

May 16, 2007 at 9:27 pm #572680How is yor daughter PC??
May 17, 2007 at 2:28 am #572681She’s doing good. She’s having a few problems with her ankles getting rashy but otherwise she’s ok. The aveeno helps with the itching but we really have to watch for when it stops helping the itch cause she is a scratcher and it really tears up the already delicate rashy skin.
May 17, 2007 at 2:56 am #572682Have you tried Cetaphil? It is a non soap alternative, for people with severe eczema. It is available in the aisle with the Eucerine. Also don’t be frightened to use the cortaid or cortisone 10 when needed.
Steroids really do the best job. There is a prescription cream called Desowen that is even safe for dark skinned people and I like it better than Elocon. Dark skinned people de pigment with many of the harsher steroids and they don’t with Desowen. This means its even safer for light skinned patients too.
One last thing…antihistamines…she needs some zyrtec or benadryl. A small baby can have 1/4 tsp childrens benadryl every 6 or 8 hours when they are having bad itching. The zyrtec is milder and is once daily. She could say have 1/2 tsp of zyrtec syrup once daily. You could also use something like singulair (off label) with the zyrtec to help part of the allergy cascade. Singulair is a leukotrine inhibitor used for asthma and allergic rhinitis.
(allergen -> response from histamine -> response from leukotrine -> and so on)
Most children with Eczema like this also have other allergy problems like asthma. Keep a close eye on her.
(disclaimer: this is not medical advice…this is personal advice, and you need to discuss these issues with your pediatrician or better yet, your dermatologist…)
