Well here he is! Took me all of 2 hours to paint him and I love how he came out! He’s modeled after the beautiful eclectus parrots of the amazon, and the reason some of his paint is mixed is because that’s how the actual parrot’s feathers look. They look like they were blue birds with the red painted on over it. Now this guy I’m calling a male, but only the female eclectus parrots have yellow tips on their tail feathers, but it was just too pretty to pass up on. Anyway hope you enjoy him and sorry but he’s not for sale 😀

Yay thanks Koishi! I wish it would have taken me longer to paint him though, cause I just got cut from both of my temp holiday jobs and now I have nothing better to do, but I’m the type that once I start doing something it won’t take me long to finish it, so yeah 2 hours max for this guy. I wish I had the money to buy moe of these things, but alas no job=no money so yeah….gonna be a while before I can paint anything else. 😕

The females are red and blue, the males are green with other colors under the wings. (Just for general reference) I’m a huge fan of ekkies as pets with the right people, and you’ve done a fine job of your portrayal. Pretty bird! Looks like an SI/Vos hybrid. 😀

Also eclectus aren’t from the Amazon. XD But this lady is pretty.

I have a female eclectus and yes, they are red! Mine is a Solomon Island and there is also a Vosmaeri. The Vosmaeri has the yellow at the tip of their tails–the Solomon Island are a little smaller than the Vosmaeri and they have no yellow tip at the tail. Interesting that the females are red and the males are green–in fact when they first came into the US breeders thought they were two different species and wondered why they weren’t getting any eggs when they put two reds and two greens together.

I was thinking of an eclectus theme for one of my phoenixes–don’t know when I’ll get around it but I’ll enjoy yours for now! 🙂

I love her bright primary colors 🙂 The red and blue together are great!

Sorry I’m deleting the content of that post cause it was stupid and I’d been having a bad day that day. I’m used to mean people on gaia online and it gets hard to tell who’s being nice and who’s being sarcastic anymore on these things. Sorry guys didn’t mean to sound like an angry dragon who got its tail stepped on. I won’t be so opinonated anymore on here

I don’t think anyone was trying to be arrogant, maybe just educate you a bit on the birds you seem to like so much 😕 He came out nice though, nice and bright. I love bright color schemes. The blue eyes really pop too 🙂

Actualy, if you spend some time looking through forum postings, you will see that things on this forum work oppositely then what you just said there. We share info like that a lot and discusse not only the piece but the info. We just had a friendly discussion on the correct pronunciation of the word Kirin in the ‘show your pyo collection’ thread :S. It really is not a very big deal and I can assure you, the people that made those comments were being absolutely friendly about the info they shared. I appreciated thier comments because I did not know that about those birds and found if fun to read. I’m putting this out there to help show that no one here meant any insult at all and also that this is a normal thing for us.

People here will respect your request though.

Well thanks for all the extra info, guess I should have researched the bird a bit better, but seriously guys critque the piece not the info that’s what this forum is for. Thanks to those who said they did like it, I appeciate the compliments but please those who know I messed up the bird info don’t bother posting it unless you’re critiquing the art. It just kinda makes it sound like you like proving people wrong when you do that and it comes off as arrogant. So please no more posts about the birds. Post about how you like the art. 😡

Good Lord, when did people grow such thin skin? I work very closely with many species of birds and was merely sharing some information for others who might be interested in researching the birds further since your piece brought interest. It’s not about being arrogant. I DID share my opinion on the piece.
