lol I used the wrong “there”. Must remember to proof read, and not type in a hurry.
And yes, I see the horn and damage as well. Now I’m really curious. The seller seems to be hiding it. Interesting, since they have perfect feedback. But again… could go back to being bought at a store with the damage… but even a non-windstone collector should be able to see the damage. Le sigh.
September 9, 2011 at 3:41 am #855883Oh HELLS yea that baby is CAKED with dust! Even though it was already pointed out, there is a horn out of the socket, some of the gypsum surrounding the socket is exposed and as it runs along I spy a poor glue job on the no show side of it, the top wing rib has a small amount of gold rubbed off on it, near the end of the tail some of the gold is rubbed off there as well.
If that was new in the box, they bought it from somewhere where it was on display for a long time, and then repacked in the box and consider that to be “new in box”
Got a busted Windstone?

Thats false advertisment . And no returns . So if the person gets it they can’t return it . Over paying for a damaged dragon .
September 9, 2011 at 2:47 pm #855921I noticed in the photo where it’s laying on its side on the carpet, that horn is supporting the weight of the dragon. Without knowing more it’s possible that was the final straw that wiggled the loose horn out a bit.
Hopefully the seller just doesn’t have a “Windstone Eye” and didn’t realize. It’s hard to say. 😐

My art: featherdust.comSeptember 9, 2011 at 2:59 pm #855922(note: sometimes the surface is rough here and it can look like dust even though it’s not, but in this case it does seem to actually BE dust),
I was going to mention this too. I’ve got several pieces that look dusty in their crevices, but really its just where there isn’t a thick application of paint or gloss. Hannah, you might ask the seller if the dusty areas feel very rough.
Even beyond that, it does have a broken horn on its non display side.
On another note-is it really important that a statue be “never displayed” when you are just going to display it anyway?

If it’s in mint condition aside from some dust that can be cleaned off, then it’s not an issue for me. But it shouldn’t be advertised as such if it’s not true.
Another side note: a good coating of dust can hide a multitude of flaws which is why I never bid on dusty items unless the seller agrees to clean it and send me better pictures beforehand.

Exactly. I can understand if someone just doesn’t know Windstones and is completely unaware of certain things (although dust seems pretty universally understandable ><), but I also have had my fair share of really conniving ebay sellers so I have a very hard time trusting that people have the best intentions. It tears me. I WANT to believe they have good intentions, but my own experiences tell me to be very wary.
Also, the seller has not yet gotten back to me on my second message. If I don't hear back from them today I'm going to just assume I have found yet another dishonest seller :/
One thing Sasha – even if a seller says "no returns", you are still protected from being ripped off by Ebay's buyer protection policy. Basically it means that if you've gotten a broken, defective, or otherwise wrongfully described item and you've done what you can to work with the seller, ebay has your back. EVERY time I have had an issue with a seller on ebay so far I have had to use ebay to get my money back. It's a crying shame! Recently I bought a Kinsella castle – my very first one!! I was so excited, I got a great deal on it. When it came, it was in a box barely big enough to hold the castle and was wrapped in a few packing peanuts and quilting batting (I get why Scenceable uses batting for inner protection on her hand made unis, but I never understand why people think this is "good" packing material). Needless to say, it came broken. Two towers were knocked off and it was chipped in several areas. Despite the seller being very nice to me beforehand, she became a stone wall when I tried to talk to her about my broken castle. She blamed me for not insuring it (she didn't offer insurance) and she told me that she packed it very well (obviously not). So I had to go through ebay. As SOON as ebay contacted her, she changed her tune, saying she would give me a partial refund, which is exactly what I asked her for to begin with! It's just a shame that it comes to that with some sellers. They'd rather gamble with people and see if they "dare" to contact ebay about a broken item. Well my advice is – DARE! Always, always. If a seller is giving you a hard time about an item that was not as described, broken, etc, get ebay involved. That's the one good thing I can say about ebay is that they've never failed to get me my money back. /rant over

Insurance is pointless if the item wasn’t packed well. (From past experience, insurance is often pointless even with good packing!) The postal system isn’t going to give your money that easily. I totally agree. I got two one of a kind handmade HEAVY stoneware clay sculptures from someone, they had lots of little pieces and details but were super heavy, sort of like windstones, and were not packed to account for that at all. With that type of item, even just turning the box upside down, the weight of the sculpture will break itself. The seller just put them in a box with about an inch around them on each side with this shredded foam stuff, no bubblewrap even.
Quilt is really only good for inner packing. It doesn’t work like bubblewrap. As a rule I never wrap anything painted directly in bubblewrap because I’ve heard so many horror stories of $2000 model horses coming out of the mail with bubble patterns in the paint. Same reason not to use newspaper or coloured tissue paper, lol
Hopefully the bidders look at the photos too… even if ebay protects you it’s still a huge hassle to go through. Better not to bid in the first place. Well, better to have honest sellers in the first place, but… 😛
September 9, 2011 at 11:31 pm #855991Honestly, I agree insurance is hardly worth it. The post office/paypal, etc. make you jump through so many hoops to get your money back that it almost never happens. I offer insurance if the person wants it, but it’s really not worth the paper it’s printed on.

September 10, 2011 at 7:57 pm #856082The pic showing the horn coming out shows missing paint and maybe cracks . So buyer beware .
September 11, 2011 at 5:01 am #856125And the seller has never gotten back to me about my warning – so, I’m going to go ahead and assume (admitting I could be wrong, but evidence is too suspicious IMO) that the seller knows that the dragon is not mint or new, and is attempting to sell it that way anyway.
I really, really hope the high bidder doesn’t end up being a Windstone Forum Member 🙁 *hugs*
