We found a kitten at the hanger. This is the 4th dead/dying animal we have found in the last 2 days. I think its pretty much done for but any advice would help. Its about 5wks old and still moving, though not much. More like spazing, then real still again. Light meows… Any advice, or what not to do would help…
November 6, 2007 at 3:23 pm #634516That’s awful! I have no idea about cats, but I know other people here do. I hope you can help it!
November 6, 2007 at 3:26 pm #634517Im hoping someone can come up with some advice before it dies, though I dont hold out much hope. I thought it was dead on a few occasions during the drive home. I am thinking either desiese or poison. 🙁
November 6, 2007 at 3:27 pm #634518Rat poison? Or something aimed specifically at cats?

I am guessing aimed at cats, since the cats keep the rats away from the hanger. I could be way off, though. It could just be illness. The cats that are taken care of out there still seem healthy but they are fixed and vaccinated. I should have taken the other two to the vet when I had the chance. 🙁
November 6, 2007 at 3:32 pm #634520So you guys keep cats at the hangar? Are they there all the time?
November 6, 2007 at 3:35 pm #634521I would take it to the vet… there are so many things it could have gotten into… sounds like it got into some sort of poison. 🙁
I watch Emergantcy Vets all the time on Animal planet. If the gums are not pink and are more lite pink or white THATS a bad thing… with it “spazing”… that is another bad thing… 🙁
With animals coming up dead or dieing… there is something out there that they are getting into, someone could have left something out to poison them, you never know.
If anything, the vet can put it down to stop the suffering… I hate to see animals sick or in disstress…. 🙁
That just sucks! It really does… 🙁 Such a cute little fella too…
November 6, 2007 at 3:36 pm #634522hmmm… Call a vet, go to a vet. If it is poisoning/disease he may be able to give something against it, or even just give it the drip. I do not quite know what could be done over the phone and with home/pharma remedies. I would almost say either they have to help with some hardcore stuff or this kitten will be lucky and recover if you keep it warm and try to feed it (especially give it lots of liquid) if its better.
What other animals died? kittens? same age? any signs of something?wishing you all the best, its such a sweet lil one :/

They are feral, but the German government has a truck that comes out and pickes them up. It takes them to get shots, vaccinated, and tattooed in the ear with the letter that means neutered in German. Then it brings them back and drops them off. The local contractors take care of their food. They eat mice that would otherwise eat our parts, so we dont mind them. Maybe someone has a different opinion, though. The first one we found (on Monday) was a momma who had two kittens. I found her body, and the body of one of her kittens, but no sign of the other one. This one was found on the body of another dead cat over by the ALSE shop. I had the two kittens in my hand a few weeks ago, but left them alone so the momma could take care of them. They were only 2 wks old. Now they are all dead. I should have taken them to the stray facility. I guess I would be like “Here. I just adopted one, but here is two more for you.” 🙄 I am rambling, cuz I have a soft spot for animals.
November 6, 2007 at 3:40 pm #634524I would take it to our vet, but they are all closed today. There is an emergency vet in Heidelberg but its on the economy. I hate to sound like a horrible person, but I dont have the money to pay all those Euros for this kitten.. I am actually surprised it lived this long. I am gonna keep it warm and try to give it milk. Is there anything I should not give it? Besides poison and hot dogs, etc…
November 6, 2007 at 3:40 pm #634525it seems to have a wet mouth/nose. Is anything running out of its nose? I’ve heard that cat flue can be very vicious. Do you see/feel anything non normal on it, hard tummy, squishy tummy, tensions, etc.

Ramble all you want. That’s quite the setup. I hope this little guy pulls through.
November 6, 2007 at 3:42 pm #634527I think that most rat poisons would be like Decon, it will make them bleed from the inside out. Nasty nasty nasty stuff. 🙁 Antifreeze is also nasty and there is no “cure” for cats… dogs if it is less than 12 hours since it got into it.
With it spazing it sounds like it is going to pass… 🙁
That just so sucks, I almost want to cry…

give it cat milk, they have special powdered milk for that. If it has a tummy disease pure milk would not be best. Maybe diluted special whiskas cat milk. chamomile tea. Even if taking it to the vet is out, try to call the emergency, they can perhaps tell you what you could do. I dont know what is good against poisoning :/
