Another repair I finally uploaded photos of. This was Maple a Stray Flap Cat from ebay painted by Melody
These were her before photos I was provided.
Unfortunately, Maple suffered much more damage in shipping.
and this was the repair process… Maple took many passes before he/she was completed.
And all fixed ^_^

As often happens when I see descruction like this – I think one of two things -“Yikes! What’s wrong with people – why can’t they pack properly” OR “Poor thing – you had a very bad fall” 🙁
Regardless of the cause, you have shown your talent once again. Sad as these breaks are, your repairs are impeccable in quality, flawlessly executed, timely, and faithful reproductions of the original work.
I hope that you are as proud of your work as the owners are of their now display-worthy pieces. As I certainly am with the work you have done for me.
I hope, too, that the repair work is extending to your own health and that you are on the mend.

I’m new to collecting and bought a unicorn family (father, mother, baby) on ebay almost immediately. They arrived yesterday. I did not insist on double boxing the family which came without boxes or tags. Obviously, since I’m writing you, there was damages. The mother unicorn has a bent horn (it was straight in the pics on ebay). The shipping box has dented, mashed in corners. I’m going to get back with the seller and USPS but I’d like to know if it would be possible to straighten the horn without breaking it and what you would charge for such a repair?

Horns are one of the few things that are near impossible to repair. They are made from pewter, and while it does bend a little bit, it’s real gold lacquer on the horn that can easily flake off when the horn gets damaged. There is no way to fix it so it looks like brand new again. You can sand it and paint it gold, but it’s just never the same as the factory finish. All the gold plated windstone horns are this way.
Honestly, the BEST fix I have found is kindly asking Melody if you could get a replacement horn. I always offer to buy one, but they always seem to be way too nice to make me do that! LOL! I of course would not make a habit of asking for things like that, but if you send a photo of the damage to service@windstoneeditions they might be able to help you. I do know they are quite low on horns at the moment though, so you may need to wait a bit to receive one, but that’s my best advice.
If you need help replacing the horn, I can do that no problem. They are fairly easy to remove with a LOT of patience.

After I left the note above for you I went further into the Repair Forum and read other previous posts on horn repair. Nothing I read (except replacement) seemed encouraging. I will do as you said and send pictures to service@windstoneeditions of the damage and request a new horn. I have no problem with paying for a replacement horn (and to have it replaced) – the seller refunded the cost of the Mother Unicorn immediately and even asked me to apologize to the Mother Unicorn. I assured her that I would keep it with the rest of the family whether it got repaired or not. However, a replacement horn sounds like a good idea, even if I have to wait awhile.
I am very glad that there are people like you with the talent and patience to repair our Windstones. Bless you.

I’m sure you could talk a newbie through the replacement but I am unable to do fine work with my hands so I doubly appreciate your skill. I’ll contact you when I get the horn. Thanks again.
It’s been a while since I updated this. I had a few people approach me on repairs, commissions, etc that I took on so I figured I may as well keep this updated.
