Do you get tired of your job sometimes? What do you do to keep it interesting?
Also, could you share with us what goes on in your typical day?

Or of us constantly squeaking and begging for everything besides what’s already available?
December 22, 2008 at 6:26 pm #746991And do you ever take time out of your day just for yourself? To do whatever it is you want to do?

Honestly, I’d never get tired of working on sculpture, (well physically tired yes, my hands hurt after a day of carving!)
I do get tired of certain subjects, I was pretty much limited to cats, dragons, owls and wolves for awhile there. That is another reason I like the paint-your-owns so much! Room to expand the subject line. It is always interesting to start a new sculpture. I am getting a bit tired of “things with wings”
My “job” now is different from when I actually made sculpture. The past 2 years I have been painting most of the time. It is less enjoyable because I am a lousy painter. There aren’t that many castings for me to paint right now, so I usually work at home on my own art and whatnot, then get to the shop around lunch time. I start painting in the afternoon and go till seven or so in the evening. We haven’t got a real routine yet because we are still in the setting-up stages.
I am eager to start doing sculpture again.
When I sculpted before the move, I worked most of the time in a studio that we had across the street from our house. In the morning I would walk my kids to school, feed my animals, do a ton of housework then walk to my across-the-street studio with the animals that came with me, sometimes as many as six of them: two dogs, Potter the cat, two emu chicks and the pony. They would all follow me to work without leashes or anything. It was cute. I worked on sculpture every moment I could during the day and after dinner until bedtime.December 22, 2008 at 7:27 pm #746993sounds like it was a fun parade to watch when you went to your studio 😀
December 22, 2008 at 7:55 pm #746994I would follow you too!!
December 23, 2008 at 1:42 am #746995Lol, I can understand getting tired of “things with wings”! Wings are really hard to sculpt…and very tedious. ^_^;; (least I think so). My god though, I wish I had your workspace! Emus and ponies! Can I ask–do the emus and pony ever interact? Couple of coworkers of mine worked on a project with emus in california, and the nearby horses always seemed to be fascinated by them. I always wondered how they’d get along if allowed to.

Horses may easily be spooked by emus, because emus love to do that! They love to frighten and chase anything they can by standing up like a huge two legged fuzzy Christmas tree, hissing and running at the other creature. If the other creature dosen’t run, the emu will give up and try another one. I have one llama that always runs away, so the emu always chases him, but she doesn’t chase the other llamas! They all understand it is a game. The pony would run too, so he got his exercise! Emus generally get along well with big creatures.
December 23, 2008 at 6:23 am #746998You may get tired of doing things with wings, but you sculpt just about the prettiest wings I’ve ever seen on a line of creatures.
I’m certainly curious to see what new sculpts become available in the next few… years?December 23, 2008 at 2:41 pm #746999Wow, Melody, I am envious! Your day sounds so wonderful ^_^ No bosses standing over you, no hideous fluorescent lights, no proper dress code…and lots of fuzzy friends to encourage you while you work! Oh, and no hour long commute in traffic either!
So, if you’re tired of things with wings, what critters are most enjoyable for you to sculpt?

December 23, 2008 at 8:32 pm #747002Melody creates the most wonderful things,
Webbed, feathered, or no wings…
We will always be your biggest fans,
So, rest up…Cuz soon you’ll need your hands!😀
I like all of the things you have created, and I wish I could have been around for the purring kitties. But, I also look forward to other things to paint, and drool over in the future too! 😀
