My art: featherdust.comFebruary 15, 2010 at 6:31 pm #806144Do you do repair work on Windstones?
This is something for now that Windstone cannot offer officially, however it might be nice to gather those that do repairs in one place so that anyone that wants a piece repaired may locate them.
This will in no way be ‘official’ and it must be stressed that any repair work or transaction between individuals is between those individuals only. If you are looking to get repair work done, consider researching and making sure the person you choose is the right one for the job.
So! If you do repairs, and want to make it known, please feel free to reply here! Please do not reply to this thread if you do not want to be on the list of ‘people that do repairs’!
Copy and paste this, filling out the areas (delete my suggestions in parenthesis) as detailed or as vague as you’d like.
I will make it a sticky soon.
Forum Name:
Alternate Name, if preferred: (e.g. My real name is Jennifer. You can leave this blank if you don’t want to share it here.)
Preferred method of contact:(e.g. email, PM, etc)
Location: (e.g. USA, Canada, Great Britian… this will help customers decide if shipping might be worth it or not, and help find someone more ‘local’ if necessary. You can be detailed such as Columbus, Ohio or as vague as “The west coast, USA”)
Types of repairs done: (e.g. All repair work, touch ups to chips, re-sculpting of areas too damaged to piece together, etc)
Repair experience: (e.g. “I’m new to this but I will be very careful and my prices are a deal!”, “I’ve been collecting and repairing windstones since 2006”, etc )
Examples of work: (please share links instead of embedding images. For example, post a link to an image as so: http://www.windstoneeditions.com/galleries/albums/userpics/labgriffinchicks.jpg instead of embedding the image in the thread. This just keeps things from getting too messy. Feel free to describe the damage done, and describe what you did to repair if you want. You can be as detailed as you want here to show your repair prowess!!)
Price range: [i](e.g. ‘simple touchups start at $20, and major repair jobs are priced depending on size and amount of damage done to piece.’ Or, ‘please contact me for price quotes’. You don’t have to list prices here! You can give general price ideas here but it would be wise to price per project, as each repair tends to take a different amount of work!)
Shipping: (Who pays shipping? Are there any special shipping requirements you want to specify? Make sure to include who is responsible for insuring items, and that yourself and the customer know what to do to pack well– just in case! Also make sure to familiarize yourself with insurance claims processes of your chosen shipping company in case something happens.)
Completion time estimates: (How long will it take you, approximately, once you get the piece in hands? Example answers might be: “1 week turnaround for small jobs such as chips, flea bites, and touch ups, 3 weeks for moderate jobs such as clean breaks or large chips, 2 months for really broken pieces that require re-sculpting and major repair” or “I have nothing else to do, it’s done in 2 weeks or your pizza is free!” etc etc.)
Currently open for repair jobs?: (You can edit your post to keep this up to date. This lets people know if you can currently take on repair jobs or not. Example answers: “Yes, open for all repair work”, “Yes, open but unable to take large scale repairs”, “Yes, but limited- can only take small repair jobs right now”, “Yes, but I am only able to repair paint chips,” “No, please check back later”, etc etc etc.
Additional Info: (anything else you want to make known!)

Preferred method of contact: Best way is email, PM’s max out too fast. kyrin(at)kyrinslair.com
Location: Idaho, USA
Types of repairs done: You name it, I’ve done it, touch-ups to full out rebuilding.
Repair experience: Been repairing Windstones for folks here for almost 2 years now.
Examples of work: http://www.windstoneeditions.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4394&hilit=faceless Just follow that thread, it has a lot of my work throughout.
Price range: . Simple touchups start at $15, and major repair jobs are priced depending on size and amount of damage done to piece.’ Please contact me for price quotes. Please note, repair prices do not include shipping!
Shipping: Owner of piece is responsible for all shipping costs, it will not be included in the repair price.
Completion time estimates: Currently my completion times take awhile, up to a few weeks or months depending on the repair. My regular job hours have finally dropped, so my turn around times should improve greatly.
Currently open for repair jobs?: At this time, I am unavailable for further repairs until I am done with the current backlog of repairs, and I have fulfilled my waiting list, however if you are willing to be patient, I can add you to the waiting list.
Additional Info: Color matching is done with Windstone Edition factory paints, or brands they usually use. Melody has kindly supplied many of the impossible to match paints to me, and I am often able to replace horns that are damaged, if they aren’t too firmly seated.

Alternate Name: Michael
Preferred method of contact: email, mroconnor79@gmail.com is the email I do PayPal and ebay through so I’ll be using it here as well. I can also be reached at dracofriend99@yahoo.com, my main email.
Location: North Carolina, USA
Types of repairs done: I’ve repaired paint chips, broken limbs and heads. Put back together multi-breaks as well.
Repair experience: I’ve been doing this off and on for a few years fixing the Windstones that break or chip for my wife (Azurielle), housemate (Brightstar) and various friends.
Examples of work:
Here are some photos of my recent work for Azurielle and Brightstar.
For Azurielle I fixed a small chip on the side of an Emerald Peacock Fledgling.
For Brightstar I repaired a Griffin Chick (wolf) with a damaged tail and a small paint chip on the chest. I reconstructed the damaged tail tip and repainted the tail and chest. Color matching isn’t perfect but it is close, less so on the chest.
Price range: To be determined based on damage.
Shipping: Shipping costs are your responsibility. I will be using Delivery Confirmation or some form of Tracking with any shipments and insurance. These things are expensive and I don’t want anything to happen to them.
Completion time estimates: Depends on the repair needed. Major rebuild repairs could take up to several weeks. Where as a simple repaint should only take a few days. These are estimates based on nothing else coming up or causing delays. I will keep customers up to date on repairs timelines should a delay occur.
Currently open for repair jobs?: Yes, I’m currently open to do repairs. Currently a stay at home dad, so have a bit of time on my hands.
Additional Info: A couple of pictures of a black unicorn I fixed up, find where I did the rebuild and paint.

http://drag0nfeathers.deviantart.com/Price range: Price depends on what is involved as far as the repair goes. The more pieces you have of the damaged area and the less raw sculpting the better the price. Simple repairs start an around $10-$25 and the more complicated the repair, the price increases from there. Also, the price is reflected depending on the color of the sculpture to be repaired. Gargoyles are much easier to paint match then say a Peacock Dragon, but a Peacock dragon is much easier to paint then a Pearl/White Dragon. Windstone paints also fluxuate in color depending on the age of the sculpture, environment, & who painted it as every painter has their own unique style (yes, even Windstone Production painters)… so I tend to mix my own paints for a closer match. Although, I have a few of the official colors as well from the factory too. Complete repaints are an entirely different price range and are quoted seperate from the repair itself.
Shipping: Normally the customer pays the shipping both ways, sometimes for a smaller sculpture I will ship in good faith and request reimbursement. Usually I do just this for my regulars.
Completion time estimates: Depending on the degree of repair work I usually take between 2 – 4 weeks if my work flow is normal. If I have a pile of commissions I can get backed up, but I always keep constant communication if a deadline needs to be pushed back a little for whatever reason.
Currently open for repair jobs?: As of the moment I am accepting repairs, although I try not to overwhelm myself and I rotate 2 to 3 customers at a time so if there is a wait list i will post it here.
Additional Info: I also paint PYOs on a commission basis and have (for a short time) painted at the windstone factory. Feedback is certainly available upon request 😀

The chip is right on the colored part of the edge of the wing…it is truly one of my most favorite possessions, I would adore to have it repaired. I asked my fiance to hide it from me so that I wouldn’t have to look at it since it makes me so sad! Dramatic I know, but I’m devastated that it’s damaged.
