Ok, not really, and she had a good excuse!
Some kid decides it’s funny to pull the fire alarm. Me and the fiancee are sitting on our couch, watching TV, hear the alarm go off, think, “It’s a fire, grab the cat and run”. So we grab the cat. Thinking it’s a fire, and that we won’t have time to put her in her carrier, we just pick her up and run. Of course, there was an alarm bell between us and the door. I now have some nice little scratches to add to my collection. Kimi went psycho! I’ve never seen her squirm around and claw like that (she ripped my shirt too, glad it was the shirt, not my chest that the shirt was covering π ). Hence the demon cat subject. We ended up going to our roommate’s dad’s place for an hour or so while the firemen came and turned off the alarm (after we went back for the carrier, a lady told us she caught the prankster, so we figured, no fire, we have time).
At least the prankster got his just desserts. There was blood all over the smashed glass of the alarm, and also on the wall near to it, and the door that he ran too. Oh, and by the way, the door he ran to? In the OPPOSITE direction of the closest exit. It would have been smarter to leave the building (wouldn’t have been caught for one). Oh well, at least him doing that told us that it was a prank, not a real fire! π―
Too much excitement for one night… I was freaking out thinking about my computer, Windstones, camera, wallet, insulin, fish, worldly possessions, that were all still in there when we left. We figured the cat was the most important thing to grab. Even once we figured out it was a prank, the noise was giving us a headache and we thought the cat would freak out if we left her in the apartment with that alarm going off, so…
Now I think I’m getting tired.

August 5, 2008 at 1:42 pm #726922Lock him in a room with the demon cat. She’ll give him a kitty four and he won’t do that again. π

I’m glad you are okay and there was no real fire. She’ll only do that if the alarm is blazing in the room… she’s quite docile otherwise. π She came into my room earlier and started mewing to me while sitting next to my head. It was cute, she has such a quiet meow. π

The majority of mine are quite violent. I have two who wait to mug you when you are on the toilet. You sit down and it’s all Soma beating you up with head butts and punches for attention, while Yuki licks or chews on your feet. I’m not a wanting my feet licked kinda girl but Yuki doesn’t care what I want.:lol:I do have one super sweet one and the others vary. But the bathroom muggers are my most demanding cat children. π

So what you should do is lock her in the room, stand outside the closed door, and blow one of those loud hand-held horns. I think that would get your cat worked up! π I’m glad there wasn’t a real fire. It’s good you’ve prioritized what’s really important in case of an emergency. You never know.
August 5, 2008 at 9:58 pm #726926Glad it wasn’t a real fire and nothing of yours got damaged. But what I would like to know – Is the kid still alive or has one of the tenents murdered him/her?

If I’d gotten my hands on him… the answer to that would be that he wasn’t alive… π Man was I pissed!

That reminds me, I called my dad to tell him about this, and the first thing he said (when I told him about the cat spazzing) was, “So you got the cat and left [your fiancee] behind? I like your priorities.”
Of course, he was joking (he’s told me he likes my fiancee, at least) so… π
