Were the curlies ever sold anywhere but the Windstone Store? And it’s not me I have 7 emps but I am still alive and kicking and probably the oldest active member of the Forum and I’m in FL
February 12, 2008 at 3:30 am #664960I think you are right darjeb….I think the oldest I remember was 2-medusas….she hasn’t been on in a good long while.
February 12, 2008 at 3:38 am #664961Her location says Shasta County. I think that’s in California, but of course she could’ve moved… 😕

I was thinking about her name earlier, but I didn’t want to throw it out there without more info to back up just the idea. I guess we should just sit tight until Aeth can get more info from the clerk at the shop tomorrow and pictures of the PYOs can be taken and posted.

Yeah…I think it’s somewhere near where d_z used to live…and as you said she could have moved.

Yes, you are right. I’m not suggesting it’s her…just that she was the self-proclaimed oldest member.
edited to add: Just because she was a grandma, doesn’t mean she was that old, really. I’ve known women that were grandmas in their early 40’s.
February 12, 2008 at 6:32 am #664965I couldn’t sleep, so I’ve locked myself in the office with a mug of tea and another box in my lap.
I do want to know who this woman was. I never, ever thought that a snoop through an antique shop would turn into something like this. I also wasn’t expecting to find some of the more personal items left in these boxes that should have gone to a family member. The little pinkie curlie for example. If that picture was of the collector’s grandchild, I would think he or she would want that dragon for the personal value alone. The more I think about it, the more angry I get.
These dragons were neatly packed away, and with how much care was put into placing them in their boxes, I think only a windstone lover could have done it. It seems like the boxes were never gone through, or the family just didn’t care. Or maybe they were just grieving and didn’t want to go through personal things. I don’t know.. but I feel like so much was just thrown away for no reason.
I -will- be making phonecalls tomorrow. If any of the windstone staff wants to contact me personally, I can provide my cell in a pm. I may be away from the comp all day, so you all might not hear from me until tomorrow evening. Four hour classes also have to be taken into account. ><
February 12, 2008 at 6:37 am #664966Will we be seeing pics of the PYOs any time soon? That would be the biggest help in identifying the previous owner.
February 12, 2008 at 12:00 pm #664967Yeah, the PYOs cound possibly be tracked. I hope thru the Windstone records we can possibly find out who this was. I am def glad her collection founds its way here instead of in a dumpster or a storage unit. Im sure whoever they were, just like most of us, they would like their collection to be appreciated. I think im gonna be real specific in my will.
February 12, 2008 at 12:37 pm #664968Just an idea but~Has anyone thought about contacting the store owner that the boxes came from? Even if she has no records she might remember something more about the person or persons who dropped them off. She must have talked to them a bit to know that their Grandma passed away.
February 12, 2008 at 1:48 pm #664969this is so sad Aetheria….keep us posted hon, and move at your own pace, we do want to find out who it was, but dont let it overwhelm you. 🙂

I think Aeth said she was going to do that.

I am sure she would be thrilled that we are all thinking about her and that the pieces she lovingly collected will be taken care of. Also that her passing has helped the life of another collector.
Her pieces will live on as a legacy and she will be remembered. Even if we never find out who she was….she will be remembered. That is the beautiful thing about this forum.
We CARE about each other! So no matter what we find out….at least her treasured possessions will end up being cared for, by people with the same love.
Well said, Keschete! It looks like she left a legacy that can possibly be enjoyed by many people just like her. If she was a Forum member (or even if she wasn’t), she will be remembered fondly. I hope we can find out who she was, so we can honor her properly.
February 12, 2008 at 4:27 pm #664972My husband knows there are certain people I’d leave certain pieces to if something happened to me. He’d come here and at least let people know as well. Wondering what’s happened to someone is a hard thing.
February 12, 2008 at 4:39 pm #664973I to have thought about how to leave my Windstone collection to the Forum members but I am not sure how to do it because we have mostly Forum names not real names and no addresses – any suggestions?
