That is such a great idea! I really like seeing how things are done, etc.
But I find scary the fact that the top of your both is arching in the middle from the weight of the statues on it 😯 What if they fall?
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

I host the feedback lists, which are maintained by drag0nfeathers.

I suspect that the gold is just the basecoat.
KyrinYOu are probably right. I didnt notice that they still have quite a bit of gold on them when they are painted.
January 19, 2008 at 12:55 am #657224I’ll take seconds!!! They will be a OOAK for sure

That and the shade is different from the gold risers 🙂 Hehe… windstones in progress 8)
January 19, 2008 at 4:41 am #657226What is the sculpture behind the peacock fledgie? It sorta looks like a flion, but not!
That was a great picture and cool idea. The only way you can learn is to practice and that is a good use for pieces that will be destroyed…you get to practice 🙂 You work looks good, don’t be embarrassed…I can’t paint at all!
January 19, 2008 at 4:57 am #657227You know, instead of beating the heck out of the seconds, there are always grateful Windstone collectors that will take what you got!!!! hint hint 😀

I’m flattered you guys think my rejects look pretty cool from a distance… but that’s about all the good marks they get. Seriously. You guys are used to the really nice, smooth, and finished pieces that decorate your shelves. The pieces on my paint booth – up close and personal – are truly horrid. Airbrushing is really hard to learn, and those pieces reflect it. Most of them up close are rough textured, sloppy, unfinished, unevenly painted, and a far, far cry from the nice pieces that leave the factory. You guys are used to Melody, and Olympia, and Jennifer’s fabulous works. I’m still in artist-training. Kinda like puppy training… minus the walkies and treats. 😛
Oh. And a lot of those sculptures you guys see that look like bears and flapcats are all flions. Remember when Melody said the flion mold was deformed? Well, there’s a bunch of those reject flions from that casting run that I’m using for practice.
January 19, 2008 at 5:32 am #657229Cool stuff, I love seeing behind the scenes, thanks for sharing!! 😀
January 19, 2008 at 6:06 am #657230I love the idea of the sneak peeks. Thank you for taking the time to share this with us. I love the riser in that color.
January 19, 2008 at 2:48 pm #657231Thanks for posting! It’s fun seeing more of the process (not to mention goodies to look forward too!) 😀
January 19, 2008 at 3:06 pm #657232Oooh, this looks like fun!
You and I are going through a similar process, but we get to take dents out of factory-reject brass instruments. 🙂
Good luck learning the art of the airbrush! 🙂
Windstone collector in remission. 😉
January 19, 2008 at 8:22 pm #657233Very cool! Thanks for sharing!!
January 20, 2008 at 12:47 pm #657234Great idea. I can’t wait for those rising spectrals to hit the stores. I’m trying to save up. (What worries me is the recesion that’s supposed to be happening soon. If it does, then I won’t be buying anything. It has people really worried, and they aren’t spending. That means less sales, and less hours for me, and less money for bills…. sigh…. I hope this all blows over soon.)
January 22, 2008 at 2:22 am #657235We need more salivating on this thread!
Get this unicorn barf outta here!
January 22, 2008 at 2:24 am #657236Towel please! 😯
I sincerely hope we’ll all have a chance to get our grubby little hands on those!
