First off–my sister is the BEST!!!!!! She bought me a surprise Amethyst Young Oriental! Unfortunately, she didn’t know I already had one on the way 😆 So I got him today and I noticed a difference–he is darker than the first-batch one that I purchased. Not a huge difference, just a little darker. Does anyone else notice this?
Here they are out in the sunshine:
I’m not sure it is enough of a difference to make for separate “Light” and “Dark” labels. At first I thought the darker one was just heavier on the antiquing, but his copper highlights are a little less bright, and the bright purple that’s his main body color is a little deeper. The pictures show it, it is fairly subtle, but enough of a difference I thought I’d show you all!

To be honest, I don’t think its enough difference to warrant “light” and “dark” lables. If it were more like these, than yes. But I can’t see much of a difference. In these photos you can see the difference between the light and dark peacocks and the emerald and jade coloration.

July 7, 2009 at 5:51 pm #774150The difference is extremely subtle. Other than two of your pictures, I couldn’t tell them apart. Are you going to keep them both?
July 7, 2009 at 6:33 pm #774151Oh wow, I never even thought about collecting this sculpt until I saw Tfsculptures pictures, they’re adorable! What is the deal with these guys, are they retired? Limited? I likie! 😀
July 7, 2009 at 7:42 pm #774152It is harder to see the difference in the photos than real life. On my shelf right above me, they really do look like 2 different colors. But yeah, I don’t think there’s nearly as much difference as the Peacocks or Jades/Emeralds. I am a color hound though, maybe that’s why I noticed the differences!
I was thinking of trading him for a different color, but I’m having quite a time deciding which one I like better. They’re both gawgeous 😀
July 7, 2009 at 7:47 pm #774153I like the one on the right a little better. I think i can see his details a bit clearer. If you are looking for a new home for him I might be interested.

The Young Oriental Dragons in the pictures I quoted are retired. Officially three colors, though there are light and dark variations on two of the colors. The new amethyst ones are limited.
July 9, 2009 at 12:28 am #774155Hmm… a small difference. I like the darker one… and thankfully I got the darker one 😉
July 9, 2009 at 12:29 am #774156Yes you are right. I got the first batch out. Then this was the third I think. I compared them. The second one is a darker color but it is his tail and fringe that are different colors on mine. First one is a gold color the next is a almost brown gold and his front paw is blue not purple like the first one. Lots of differences here. I wish I could post the pictures I took but alas I have not acquired that talent yet.
