I don’ know if there was a mistake in violet flame curlie, but the russet and violet flame look very similar. One is darker than the other. The russet will be signed. If you have a signed one, it’s a russet not a VF.
Yeah, thats what I was thinking. The “dark” violet flame looks like a Russet one to me. Russet was the very first curlie ever made/released.
I am going to disagree that the darker one is a Russet. Russet has orange eyes and that guy in the pic seems to have red eyes. Also, you can still see some purple on the wings.
Okay trying to figure out differences, so I saw two orange eyed and one red eyed coloration similar and wonder how you can tell differences between three colored curls: Violet Flame, Red Flame, and Russet? Only the VF one had red eyes in what I saw.
Red Flame and Russet are the same I believe (different names were used for the same color for some reason). And signed. And orange eyed.
Violet Flame is red eyed, but there are are a couple versions of it with varying amounts of red, violet, and gold. None are signed.
For those who are curious, there was an initial “oops” batch of violet flame curlies that were red colored. These look somewhat similar to the red/russet flame, but they have red eyes, and dark blue antiquing. They are also a bit more purplish than the red/russet flames.
Thank you Skylover. Just so you guys know, that dark violet flame is the one from the “oops” batch. I had a red flame (russet) I sold it many years ago. Red Flame was nicknamed russet for some reason.
the original russets did indeed have orange eyes. I wish I hadnt sold mine way back when! Sooo tempted at your silver poad…sigh. Good luck with sales!
I’ve now added curlies and a coiled male to the list. All are best offer, so don’t be afraid to offer a price I’m looking for at least what I paid or better, unless it’s current production and in stock in stores. Then feel free to offer less.
