Her commission rates are pretty reasonable. Unfortunatly, I wasn’t able to go with one right now. So I’m saving up.

I’m always saving up for something ^_^

I believe it. I could easily spend paychecks there.
October 11, 2007 at 11:14 pm #620233😯 Wow, I just got them. They are so beautiful. I’ll look forward to a commission. But, the cats ear broke off and I can’t find it. 😥 Oh, what do I do? I’m going to go through the paper again and hope I find it. If I don’t then I’ll be really, really sad. It’s too beautiful to be missing an ear. 😥 Poor kitty, evil post.
October 12, 2007 at 4:06 pm #620234I got mine a couple days back and they are just darling. A tiny tip of the longest tail-feather on my pheonix broke off, but it isn’t too obvious (and I’m not trying to find it in all that shredded paper!)
She’s incredibly talented! 😀
October 12, 2007 at 10:20 pm #620235Did you get the large phoenix? I almost bought that one. The small one was just beautiful. She is so very talented! 😀
October 13, 2007 at 4:11 am #620236Auugh!! ;_; I got mine today, and though they are wonderful and I love her work, her packing/shipping SUCKS!!!! ;_; ;_; I’m still just horrified…They all five came in one tiny box with nothing but shaved paper and paper towels to protect them…all but one are broken…I’m going to try to fix them, but I know there are bits that have been lost in the packing material. I’m so sad!! ;_;

-J R R TolkienOctober 13, 2007 at 11:54 am #620237They are beautiful Arlla, it’s a shame they came so broken. My pheonix was fine. Just lost an ear off the cat. But, I’m not that far from her.
I really would like to buy the night horse wall hanging but, I don’t want to deal with another broken one. 😕
Oh, now what do I do? I’ve been through the box over and over and I haven’t found that ear. 😥 I guess it’ll just be a one eared cat now.
There is a broken spine. I don’t mind that, it’s not noticable. I could have lived with that.
I really don’t know what to do….
October 13, 2007 at 3:46 pm #620238Hey guys! That sucks about some of the wee tiny breaks! But they are soooooo easy to fix, don’t worry!
Arlla I’m really sorry about how your guys ended up, I was talking to El and she told me about how she tested the packing to make sure it was bumpproof but if customs decided to open it and take each one out to look at (and sadly they do seem to be doing that a lot lately across the border..wtf customs..) then unfortunately they don’t seem to be under any obligation to make sure they were put back in the box the way they were packed.
El mentioned to me that she reponded to your email about the unfortunate result you have there, I hope you got it because in cases like yours she normally offers to a) repair it for you and resend it, this time packed all by itself b) let you choose a replacement from the ones she’s already made or c) commission another sculture of equal value/size, which I think should really put your mind at ease. Unfortunately, these sculptures aren’t like Windstones in that they do have some wee little bits that can break off though overall it’s very rare to see them broken in a major way like we see with mispacked Windstones.
As far as using paper towels and shredded paper, El uses those materials because they have proven effective in the past, but even the best packing materials can fail if the post is not careful with the boxes, which we all know can happen, sadly :/ Sometimes I feel they are like the airport with putting luggage on planes: just tossing packages onto trucks and whatnot. Someone I knew who worked for a large shipping company told me a few horror stories about how some employees treat mail and packages @_@;; BUT, that said, El will definitely be looking into ways to avoid this kind of situation in the future in regards to improving packing materials to survive uncareful hands!
And I believe El mentioned to Romeodanny that she’d be repairing your cat for you since you’re local to us 😀
Hopefully you guys will get sorted out soon because I know that El doesn’t want any customer unhappy with their creatures and she is usually willing to go above and beyond what we would expect from an artist to help her buyers out, which I would do the same because we really want our customers to have art they love at the end of the day ^_^ Her customer service is very much like Windstone’s, in that regard, don’t worry 😀
October 13, 2007 at 4:08 pm #620239That is really nice of her. I wasn’t blaming her. It was packaged fine for me. I just wish I could find that ear. Absolutely beautiful cat, and I really would like to buy that night horse. She has me hooked for sure, I love her work. 🙂
I was going to contact her later today but, she’s emailed me first. 😆
October 17, 2007 at 8:25 am #620240Just a follow up – Ellen has been super nice and is bending over backwards to make me happy. And she says she’s got lots of new packing material to try and prevent things from breaking. Awesome.
Trying to fix the two of mine that were broken worst isn’t going too well, though…most of the broken pieces are lost…I may just send them back to her, even though I don’t want to…I know she could fix them up better than I could.

-J R R TolkienOctober 17, 2007 at 6:29 pm #620241That’s awesome Arlla! 😀 I was reccomending earlier to her some of the eco-friendly peanuts you can get around here, wonder if she decided to try them out 🙂 We also had a long discussion about other ways to prevent critters from banging against each other in the event of more customs-related openings, including double boxing or use of box dividers (some of her creatures don’t really fit into conventional small boxes). It’s shame we can’t trust the postal system more about this stuff :/
I was just up at her place last weekend, and I got to admire all the new creatures she’s got going 😀 It’s always neat to see them in their early stages ^_^ We had a great time doing a nearby studio tour, visiting another artist-friend of ours 😀 I love studio tours ^_^
October 18, 2007 at 1:13 am #620242OMG! I can’t believe I missed this! These are awesome! Will have to contact her…
October 18, 2007 at 1:17 am #620243They are so worth it bosky
October 25, 2007 at 3:42 am #620244I’ve scraped up the funds to order a commission from her. I can’t wait for it to be done!
Now I’m worried that it will arrive broken though! *frets*
