That’s so awesome!!! 😀 I helped explain how Paypal works so that she could get an account and expand her payment options ^_^
Which ones did you choose??

You’re welcome! ^_^
I love my gryphon, it was made for meeeee 😀

EEEEE!!! The ones I bought are on their way here!! ^_^ Now I just have to make room for them…Ha ha ha I tooooottally have more than those two! Let’s see, I bought this fellow last spring, I couldn’t resist!

I’ll try to take pictures of my other pieces, I do have a number of really small ones because I try to help repair some of the unsellable ones rather than have them get thrown out, so some of my little menagerie is a bit odd LOL I’ve vowed to not take pictures of those ones though, but I will take pics of my other ones LOL
It’s just too tempting when we do shows together, I get to see her stock before anyone else so I usually snag something for myself if one catches my eye! XD

Sunhawk, did your friend get bombarded with e-mails and sales after you posted her site here? 😀
LOL yes she kinda did actually, and apparently some people mentioned me in the email! We had a phone conversation about it about a week ago, when we were trying to figure out about setting up Paypal lol Thanks for making me look good, guys 😉

I’m a big fan of anything winged ^_^

I’m soooo jealous of people who can do stuff like that. My family’s artistic gene sorta just.. brushed me… good singing voice, but not enough to do anything with, and crap skill for art or crafty things. 😕
You can always commission another like it ^_^
Awww I’m a little jealous as well 😉 I tried to make a dragon like hers once and it kinda looked like an ant-eater in the end (it was supposed to be a gryphon :X) LOL

She does really good snakes! The heads are always really awesome looking and realistic! 😀
October 2, 2007 at 10:23 am #620222Oh those are so… boy, I’m speachless. I’m buying a few, and I’ve asked about a commission.

I bought a couple, and I mentioned you in my e-mail. 😉 I’m so glad you posted about her work! Maybe someday I could try a commission too… 😀

Well, I went a little nuts! ^_^ I got these guys:
http://pics.livejournal.com/creaturesfromel/pic/0000rtak/
http://pics.livejournal.com/creaturesfromel/pic/0001258d/
http://pics.livejournal.com/creaturesfromel/pic/00016rw6/
http://pics.livejournal.com/creaturesfromel/pic/00021ssf/
http://pics.livejournal.com/creaturesfromel/pic/00009pxa/I’ve got my eye on a few others, but they’ll probably be sold by the time I can rightfully buy anything again…
I would really like to commission her for a dragon like this one – I think it’s amazing:http://pics.livejournal.com/creaturesfromel/pic/00004xs8/
Do you think she’d do it? I asked her in one of my emails if she’d ever make another like it, and she said that since they’re all OOAK she wouldn’t, and she didn’t mention anything about commissions…
(I also mentioned you in my email – after all, I wouldn’t have known anything about her if it weren’t for you)
(and oooh! I love that little winged fish you got!!)

Awesome choices!! I especially like the last two linked there ^_____^
Generally what she means when she says that is partly that recreating an EXACT copy would be difficult given that she does them all by hand and they are purposely made to not be castable, etc. But I think she also likes the idea of not making any two indentical creatures. You could probably get her to do a dragon that was along those lines, but it wouldn’t look exactly the same. Either way, the end result will look amazing ^_^
She does commissions right now as far as I know, and if she’s too full-up right now to take on more, I’m sure she’ll let you know. It doesn’t hurt to ask, because I have yet to meet an artist who minded being asked if they do commissions, it’s just a matter of “free” time. After all, her site has a commissions page, I don’t think she would have gotten me to make that page if she wasn’t cool with doing commissions 😀
I like sharing her artwork, not just because it’s awesome and beautiful, but because I like the idea that we’re all in this together and we should be helping each other out when we can ^_^
Isn’t that fish great?? I love his wings and his orange-gold-vermillion colour, so intense 😀 😀

Do you mean, what packing materials? I’m pretty sure she uses cardboard boxes and newspaper strips, though she may use peanuts for international orders, I am not entirely certain. I mostly know that she uses boxes and shredded newspaper when we do conventions. If you have concerns about shipping outside North America, just let her know and see what she says, she’d know best what to use to protect your creature.
The larger ceramic ones can be as fragile as you might expect out of ceramic, but the polymer clay ones are pretty durable and the foam ones are as durable and resiliant as one could ask for! The foam ones are also unbelievably light; I’ve held some of the larger foam critters like the winged dragon or koi fish, and they practically floated in my hand!
