Hopefully I’ll get the MRI and blood tests back soon. I dunno though, with it being so close to Christmas…

Here’s what the bruise from the IV needle looks like… urgh.

The first two times I got stuck in both elbows, but they couldn’t find a vein there. Those didn’t bruise thankfully. 🙄

My thyroid must’ve crapped out on me when I had surgery early in 2005. Just the drugs they gave me seriously messed with my head for an entire year, but as time went on I began to get weak, old, depressed, and sleepless. And when I did sleep, I’d wake unable to feel my arms. I also had Tinnitus, and bradycardia.

I was sent to a neurologist who found all kinds of things wrong with me, neurologically speaking. My gastroenterologist, who had been one of the surgeons who’d fixed me up earlier, found things wrong with me gastroenterologically speaking. My pulmonologist gave me a leaflet explaining the horrors of emphysema. My hearing doctor found mild to moderate hearing loss. Each of these specialists would find something wrong and recommend further study.

Then early this year my wife suggested I go back to my family doctor for a general check up, and NOT mention any of my various symptoms. Having symptoms seemed to just get me recommended to a specialist. I was about up to -here- in specialists.

One of the things my doctor tested was my hormone level, and she immediately prescribed a magic pill, telling me I’d be on this for the rest of my life. It was as simple as that, and only took two years and thousands of wasted dollars to find out.

Within a month, I felt 20 years younger (hopefully you’ll not feel quite THAT much younger than you are now…) and full of life. I couldn’t believe the transformation.

When I told my parents about this, they just said “Oh yes, your Aunt Betty nearly died of that.”

I’m glad you have found out about being hypothyroid in time, and I hope all the other scary possibilities just fade away as your system gets itself straightened out.

Wow, sounds like you had it way worse than me. O__O Glad you’re feeling better though. I hope the pill makes me better…

Gah, my endocrinologist called (at 9:30 at night, wtf)… I do have a pituitary tumor. T_T It’s small though, she said it was the size of a pen tip and doesn’t need surgery, thank god. I might have to take another pill for the rest of my life… urgh.

Excuse me while I go throw up now. T______T

At least you’re getting some answers, PaperCut. With answers you can go forward.

I notice you have a tattoo and in a very tender location! How did you handle that? Was it a completely different experience than having blood drawn (besides the obvious)? I just wonder because I have 8 tattoos, but hate to have blood drawn. I have crappy veins and you know the rest…. One time I had to have 10 vials drawn and changing the vial was the worst:-/ I’m always ready for another tattoo, though. Weird. 😕

Edited to say I just read the other thread…13! tats. I guess you share my weirdness. 😆

It’s weird how that works. I am just the opposite way. I have no problem getting shots and blood drawn, but even thinking about getting a tattoo done makes me break out in a cold sweat. And the needles don’t even go in as far!

I guess fear doesn’t care about logic at all.

Papercut, I’m sorry to hear about the tumor, I hope the medicine works and you feel better soon!

I hope that the meds help, and that a lot of your mental issues is hormone induced so that you can start having a more normal life.

I would suggest you see a pyschitrist though, so you can learn to deal with the various phobias you are suffering with. I hope that you will get to the point where being alone for a few hours is no big deal, going out into the world and exploring it is possible, and where any other triggers you have can be worked around relatively easily.

Now that you are getting better, it’s time to get out there, have fun and do some things!

      Yeah, getting tattoos doesn’t bother me at all. I think they actually hurt less than blood tests lol… but maybe I’m just weird like that. XD Though getting tattoos on your wrist does really hurt a lot worse than other places. It wasn’t that bad though. ^^;

Well the thing with psychiatrists is, I have really crappy insurance, so they won’t cover it, and we can’t afford it otherwise. There’s just no way. And I can’t get a job because I’m always so sick, plus the fear of leaving the house, so I can’t get the money to go, and… it just keeps going around in circles. ^^; *flails*

Can you check into local programs that might help you, either through funding or getting you into therapy classes?

        #633880

I’m not sure. My parents don’t think I need a therapist and I can’t drive. I don’t have any friends who could take me either… 🙄

You might want to take a look at this book — doing the exercises might enable you to overcome your fear of leaving the house, and perhaps other related problems too. A friend of mine use to have severe panic attacks, and his psychiatrist had him do the exercises in this book to successfully overcome them. He said that it was the best book of this type that he’d come across.

Oou, thanks. I’ll have to look for it next time I go to Hastings. Thanks! 😀

        #633883

        You’re welcome! I hope its helpful. 🙂

By the way, Amazon’s price on that book is ~30% lower than the full retail price that B&M bookstores typically charge, and Amazon gives free shipping for orders >= $25.

        #633884

I see; well I’ll look at Hastings anyway, and if I decide I want to buy it I’ll get it from Amazon. :3

        Sounds like a plan! 🙂
