Melody, I hope that the flooding is not impacting your business nor home! I know your house is up on a hill, but I am not sure if the factory is in a flood prone zone or not…

January 20, 2012 at 4:55 pm #869900Hello! Our building is not getting flooded – but it’s not all that far from the Marys River for which there is still a flood warning (the river is very high!). Our personal biggest problem is closure of the roads due to high water and the possibility of getting stuck at the factory (or not being able to reach it). John & Melody had to make a really long detour to get home from there last night when North and South Corvallis got separated by flooded roads. This morning they reopened a detour so you can get by there again, however a little more water and they will close it back up.
The North East section of Corvallis has had major flooding of homes and that’s the really bad part. That’s what they have shown on the news. I feel really bad for all those people, and the many others who are experiencing real flooding.
January 21, 2012 at 7:49 pm #870147Weeellll, we’re officially flooded in. Just got back after a short investigative drive down the main road (that leads off/on the island) and the road ended and there was just water. Water on either side of the road; it all looked like one big lake.
Haven’t seen it like this in a few years. I doubt we’ll be going anywhere tomorrow morning. Maybe by the afternoon? Not sure. Either way, we have plenty of beer in the house. 😉
Beer, toilet paper, and cat food is all you need to survive. And you can live without toilet paper.
Our cats would have fits if we ate their food. LOL
We just got through more snow & ice than I’ve seen in 20 years of living in the Seattle area. Over two days without power (and o beer), after three days of not being able to leave the house due to the ice–living high up is great on the flooding aspect, not so much so when the white stuff turns your hillside into a toboggan run.
After two days without power in 30° temps, I’d add a wood stove (and plenty of wood) to that list!
We’re fine, just assessing tree damage and digging out. And replacing everything in the fridge…
Hope everything’s still OK-ish down your way!
January 21, 2012 at 9:59 pm #870180I really hope things get better this coming week and no rain . Call on the oriental dragons for help . They were believed to control the elements in the orient .
