Hi Melody,
I just bought the mom and dad Griffins in this colour and was wondering if the next batch of copper patina chicks (both sitting and crouching) will be made in version 2 colouring?
Thanks.

Maybe next time CP’s are made, split the batch? Normal and V2? So everyone has a chance at what they really want 🙂
August 19, 2014 at 12:20 am #917647The v1s have been around long enough, I think. ‘Sides the whole scheme of the v2 is quite different.
Rather than split the batches (since they’re “faulty” and no set number) maybe alternate the batches?

August 19, 2014 at 12:26 am #917648Last I knew, the gypsum is behaving better and there are not many flawed castings to be painted in Copper Patina. So, there may not be many Copper Patina pieces in the future, unless they start painting “good” castings in CP. Subject, of course, to change without notice if the gypsum goes wonky again.
August 19, 2014 at 12:44 am #917650Hmm.. Yep, etruscan I remember something about that in another thread, too.
I like the copper scheme regardless of the state of the gypsum and I especially like the “version 2” in the griffins.
Here’s hoping for a pair of v2 chicks. However long it might take. Good point about gypsum going wonky again, too. Ya never know….Life is beautiful.
August 19, 2014 at 1:01 am #917654Cp is my fave production color (2nd to Blue Morpho on dragons) V2 is ideal for my taste, I love the heavier antique and mild on teal and light on purple… So hopefully they aren’t secluded to messed up gypsum only!
Also, anyone ever do a tp with super heavy patina look? Super heavy on the teal and antique? Curious what that would look like!
August 19, 2014 at 1:26 am #917657CP is my favorite coloring too, especially on the dragons. I hope it becomes a common coloration used on good castings since there are fewer goof ups now that the gypsum is casting better.
August 24, 2014 at 1:21 am #917873Samwise, I think Melody mentioned somewhere that they might be painting copper on some good castings (such as the baby dragons) so that people could get the set.
I’m hoping that will be the case for the v2 copper on the griffin chicks, too.
Fingers crossed.

We usually paint new stuff like the most recent version of a color, but these copper patina pieces vary a LOT depending on who paints them, and what the piece being painted is like. I would say that if version two is the most recent, they will be most similar to that version. We do use teal colored eyes in them now, but if anyone is trying to match a version 1 family, we can be persuaded to make a few with red eyes.

No more wonky gypsum . Not allowed. no.

That’s wonderful, thank you. It’s good to know that any griffin chicks will be close enough to the v2 parents. I have a lot of copper dragons and know they vary a bit, so it’s all good. Teal eyes, please.

August 25, 2014 at 7:51 am #917914How do you tell the difference between version 1 and 2 copper patina? I have copper griffin chicks and I think their copper colour is gorgeous. Mine have lots of the green patina as well as violet and I love the colours. My young and fledgling dragon though have very little patina and violet and I don’t like the colouring as much. I wish they had more green and violet like my griffins. I am hoping for copper patina baby dragons soon too!

Click on the Griffin category. Pictures of both colour versions of the griffins are there.
You’ll see the “version 2” is quite different, which is why they’re listed as a separate colour.Life is beautiful.
August 25, 2014 at 12:29 pm #917919Oh I see. I just have the chicks so I guess those are the first version. They both look nice in the adults but I am thinking the pictures must have been taken in different lighting because the first version looks like a lot brighter copper.
