Here’s a question: What was your first Windstone and how did you start collecting?November 3, 2008 at 1:05 pm #738452Greater Basilisk wrote:Here’s a question: What was your first Windstone and how did you start collecting?
Warp10 got me a Flion for Valentine’s day the first year we were together – 1991. I asked where it came from, so he took me to the store, and there, I saw the kirins and the dragons. He got me the male kirin for Christmas one year and the young peacock dragon another. My brother got me the peacock hatchling and that was collection until about 2004.
That year was pivotal to my collection, because I started to write my series, A Dragon Medley, which was directly inspired by the dragons I saw in the store (we were in university, so couldn’t afford them, of course). And now, I wanted the real, ‘live’ dragons in front of me. I found out the very concept of “retiring” that year and was introduced to ebay. I also discovered a new color, Ruby, and that the green I had originally seen in the store was indeed different from the green on the pamphlet I had!
I found the Yahoo Windstone group, then the LJ community, then the Forum was created. Since then, my collection got 26 new members. And then the PYOs came out… I don’t know how many I’ve painted and traded, but I now have 19 with me.
I know it’s not a huge collection as compared to some, but I enjoy each piece. I have at least one of every color of dragon except for the rainbow, and the one that I do not have but want is the BVP, which I will try to remedy, as I did find a spot for them in my stories. Aside from that, only the black griffins appealed to me, and I have a family of kirins. I’m not into the horses at all – the only unicorn I like is the PYO one.

November 3, 2008 at 2:37 pm #738454So your addiction is your hubby’s fault? That must be a comfortable situation! π He can’t ever complain about you buying dragons.
November 3, 2008 at 2:47 pm #738455Very true… It’s all his fault! π
