I know alot of you are fans of ‘computer art’ What software do you all use? Ide like to have a go. Are there anywebsites where you can down load trial periods of the software? I was looking at Coral but its almost Β£300! π I don’t want to spend that with out giving it ago.
January 10, 2008 at 3:58 pm #654768photoshop. My boy has it from Uni. GIMP works too as I heard, unless you use the luxury if brush structures.
Comp programmes are expensive.
I also used Picture Publisher, a free program for quite a while, but it doesnt layer as nice as PP does.it very much depends what you want to make with the program.
January 10, 2008 at 5:02 pm #654769I use opencanvas only. It is a paint program for digital drawing/painting spacificly. Because it has brushes that act more like real paint, I like using it a lot better. there is a simple free version here:

For vector stuff, I use Illustrator or CorelDraw
For image manipulation, I use Photoshop
For drawing with my tablet, I use OpenCanvas
For simulating “traditional” mediums with my tablet, I use Painter ^_^

January 11, 2008 at 2:17 am #654773Ok…um…I stink at drawing with a mouse! I’m gonna need one of those drawing board things…one more thing to lust after…bah! It was still fun though! Suggestions on drawing board brands, types, etc?
January 11, 2008 at 6:27 am #654774I mostly use Painter IX, and it’s wonderful. Though, I can say I got it from a friend.
As for a drawing tablet, WACOM is the most widely used brand. And depending on what features you want, there’s a few different versions available. Graphire and Intuos are popular there. I have both and find the Intuos has a much larger range of sensitivity (for the pen), but are excellent. (Graphire is usually the beginners choice.)
January 11, 2008 at 4:42 pm #654775I use Painter X. You can download a free trial! For me, it was worth the investment, but obviously I do this for a career. π
