Hey everyone.
I know I’m not as active anymore (comes with the territory of not having an internet connection!), but I’m generally around.I don’t want to give a sob story, but basically just got back from the vets, and one of my ferrets, my little albino girl Kiki, isn’t responding to the implant given to her two months ago (adrenal disease) so it’s more than likely a cancerous tumor that MUST be removed by surgery. Almost a thousand dollar surgery.
Older picture before I moved, but that’s her! My little princess.I’m hoping to free up enough money on my vet-only credit card to be able to go thru with this surgery fairly soon. As such, I’m offering commissions again for the first time in years. At this moment, I’m looking for “freedom” commissions offered at a lower rate than I’d normally charge. Basically, you give me colors or inspiration and I run with it. As in, you won’t get progress shots all along the way (you’ll get one for sure before it gets clear coated). Um, perhaps think of it like the swap? When you say “I’d like something with blue and greens” etc then you are surprised when you see it. I’m MUCH quicker in completing a piece when I’m given freedom rather than directions the entire way (not to mention my lack of internet would make a “step by step” commission take forever).
So if anyone is interested, here are the prices/sculptures I’m accepting for this. Keep in mind these are discounted rates for this “freedom”: I’m offering a much lower price in exchange for artist freedom. PM me if interested. Due to the circumstances, I’m requesting full payment up front.
Kitsune: $70
Adult Shi-Shi dogs: $115
Shi-Shi dog pup: $50
Small dragon: $100If you want a commission from me but absolutely must be “with” me every step of the way, we can talk.
Thanks for looking everyone. Hope you all have been well, and doing better than I 🙂
November 8, 2014 at 8:47 am #921554If we sent you a picture of something for inspiration / color inspiration with the understanding that you’re free to do what you want, would that count? Also I notice that you only list 4 sculpts. Are you fixed with those, or if we sent you another Windstone sculpt (like a kirin) would you be willing to paint it?

A photo for inspiration is fine.
I actually enjoy painting the kirin, so I would not be against painting one (the kirin was the very first pyo I painted). The honest reason I did not include him in the line up was, if there was a chance I would get a number of these commissions, I wouldn’t have to deal with making sure the horn was masked off (silly reason, I know. I desperately wish they didn’t glue the horns in before sending). The only sculpture I am against painting in this current situation is the keeper, due to his size. I feel he would take much too long. The unicorn is another one I personally would prefer not to paint at this time. I also don’t get a lot of inspiration while looking at the phoenix, but if someone really wanted him, I will of course paint one.
I’ve painted a number of ki-rin’s and it’s frustrating not finding any photos of them.

*-* Your kirin are fanastic (though so are your dragons… I’m having troubles making up my mind!). How much would you charge for one / do you already have the sculpt or would you need that as well? I’m debating between that and a kitsune, as I don’t have a kitsune yet.
November 22, 2014 at 9:43 pm #922150I am still accepting these for anyone interested. My current PYO que is lifting as the PYO swap piece is completed and a phoenix is almost completed and work on a ki-rin has been started.
An update on Kiki:
I’ll try and be brief.
Last night I brought Kiki into an emergency vet due to drooling, “dizziness”, hard time walking and lethargy. They tested her blood glucose and it was 40… apparently in the 100’s is average and 70 is very low… so she was almost at “could have went into a seizure or coma at any minute”. Emergency vet was able to give her “first aid” (as they put it, since they were a emergency vet that had SOME ferret experience, but far from great experience) and she started looking and acting more like a ferret by the time we left.
I kept watch over her all night and fed her “soup” every few hours. She slept in my bed and I was afraid to sleep myself (so I got about an hour). Called into work and for the first time ever am grateful of where I work and that they simply asked for me to work on a normal day off for me (and that I could select which day I was to come in). At first it was “just come in after the vet and work till whenever” but after the vet visit it was decided since I have to pick Kiki up before 6, it would just be best to stay home.
She is now at my normal ferret specialist vet. She is being fasted for a blood test and then will likely get steroids. Insulinoma is what she probably has, and what the internet was telling me before I brought her in last night. The emergency vet said she read up on it, and it seems a lot of the time adrenal disease and insulinoma go hand in hand (though not always).Sigh. So all that money I had saved up for her adrenal surgery is now gone. I’m back to square one. Still, at least I had saved this money in the first place, or I would have had nothing to help her.
November 22, 2014 at 11:52 pm #922154🙁 Oh no. Poor Kiki is just having a rotten time right now; when it rains it really pours. Since these are related issues, is it likely that Kiki will continue to have problems until the mass can be removed? Or are you all now reconsidering the possibility of it being adrenal disease and not a tumor after all?
I wish I could do more to help you financially but I’m tapped out at the moment. Hopefully some other members will be able to request commissions so that you can rebuild your savings for the surgery. I will keep you and Kiki in my thoughts Kujacker.
November 23, 2014 at 3:04 am #922166She was given a medication today that she’ll have to receive twice a day. It’s something for-the-rest-of-her-life if it’s effective. I honestly don’t know if this medication could help the adrenal issue… but I’m thinking on the side of caution that this medication won’t help her adrenal issue 🙁
