Hee hee! Lokie, I was typing the same idea while you were typing! You just typed it faster than me! 😆 I stopped to take a Pop Tart break 😆
Skeeter you just made me laugh out loud! 😆
Commission spots are currently closed! Please message me for details.

Koishii is not talking about the same time frame as you are, Poems, and her idea of being out of contact is for a few weeks; she told me weeks in advance when she was going to be on vacation because she would be without her computer. You have been waiting for NINE months. Long enough to build a house. LONG ENOUGH TO HAVE A BABY! I hardly think you are expecting too much. This person has already been paid, and you have given her more than enough time; we’re not talking about painting the Sistine Chapel here.
But she might have problems? I have problems. You have problems. Everyone has problems. Nine months worth?
I personally think that a person should receive a down payment when starting a project for me. I don’t think all the risk should be borne by the artist. If a person has some money or a sculpt invested, they are more “connected” to the piece and less likely to just walk away and leave the artist high and dry (and their money behind.) Your situation is just the opposite; you paid in advance. This artist no longer has a monetary incentive and evidently feels no moral responsibility to honor her obligation.
Most of you responding in this thread are artists and worry about being unjustly criticized. I think this person is the exception rather than the norm; but after hearing your situation, Poems, I admit I am somewhat leery now about commissioning someone I haven’t dealt with before. From the buyer’s perspective, who wants to chance all this aggravation, not to mention the monetary loss? This casts a cloud over everyone who does commissions. Was it this person? That person? The one I was planning to contact?
What about a list with NO information other than the name of the artist, followed by the names of those people who have commissioned that person? People could then contact either the artist or the buyer for an informal “recommendation.” Both can have potential problems with a commission, and both could use some reassurance before entering into a transaction.

I really like this, and that’s something I can add to the feedback list. I can put a “commissions list” tab, with a column “artist” and beside it, all their clients. No comments, just pure simple data.
However, it turns out that just because someone with a really good track record, it doesn’t mean that they won’t have hiccups…
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

I host the feedback lists, which are maintained by drag0nfeathers.

I like that idea too! That lets the buyer take the initiative to privately contact people and do their own research. Would that also be something we could post on the forum? Or is that something that would be safer as an outside list, like with dragonmedley and just linked too on the forum?
I would also like to remind people that we have only one side of the story here so we might want to be careful about our public comments. Those that have been here for a while can recall how many times we have gotten one sided stories then found out the other side later and how those discussions turned out. (not pointing at any one or saying people are getting out of hand, just posting a reminder because of past threads that have happened 🙂 )
