Shitajiki (pencilboards). o_o; They’re sheets of plastic with anime/manga art on them. I don’t know why, but I love them. 😀 That is all I really consider a ‘collection’ besides my Windstones. I do have a lot of books and movies, but only because I like to re-read and re-watch them repeatedly. They aren’t something I worry about being in ‘mint’ condition, or any of that nonsense. e.e Just my shitajiki~ <3
ooOOooh!! O.O I did not need to read this! I do not need to start collecting anything else. XD
Oops? XD Hahaha. I should take a picture of them.
May 17, 2011 at 10:27 pm #845601LIH, I am envious of your “Le Loup” book! I studied French for something like 8-10 years (although 2 years of that was review since I would need to attend a University to find a higher level course, and Im only taking classes at the local college. But, I figured some French was better than none at all!) I love the lanugage though! Ive got 4 books in French-my favorite volume of my favorite manga, “Clover” (#3), another manga called “Fairy Cube”, a “choose your own ending” illustrated ghost story called “L’ile de 1000 Phantomes” (The Isle of 1000 Ghosts), and Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince) a book near and dear to my heart
It is a gorgeous book and I got it at the bargain tables for under $20.00! Which is where I usually buy these books because otherwise they are just too expensive. If you’re looking for something in particular, I’d be happy to have a look around for you. Although shipping is likely to be a killer!
PS: Le Petit Prince is such a lovely book!

I would love to see them. 🙂
May 18, 2011 at 9:25 pm #845701Probably a silly question, but would you guys enjoy having an “other collectables” section on the forum?
May 18, 2011 at 9:43 pm #845705I don’t have that many other collectables so it doesn’t really make a difference for me.
May 18, 2011 at 9:45 pm #845706Besides windstones…
I kind of passively collect on most of these and many of these collections are small and kept to pieces that really have meaning or catch my eye, or have been acquired mostly while growing up. Some I haven’t added to in over a year or three… Sounds like a lot (I have varied tastes), but I actually can fit everything into a small apartment quite nicely, though some things are boxed up due to having moved back home a few years ago. I also clear things out periodically.MLPs – just the older ones, G1 ponies. Not as impressive as skeeterdee’s collection, but I still have a lot of ponies, mostly from growing up, a few after the fact, and a lot of the buildings, including the Paradise Estate. 🙂
Plush toys – I have a lot from growing up and from the 80s (carebears, wuzzles, fluppy dogs, Furrever Friends, etc.) A few have been bought as an adult (like Fievel, because I sooooo wanted one as a kid, but my parents couldn’t afford him at the time).
Rocks, minerals, fossils – including a larger carved jade bear
Swarovski (c) crystal figures – I have a few, but they can be expensive, especially the larger pieces, so a small collection
Fenton glass animals with a few vases
ABJD – All of mine have hooves, horns, fins, claws, or are based on anime characters. They’re all Soom, except for a Dearmine (similar to a ZuZu Delf), two Naruto Minimees heads(Naruto & Sasuke), and an Iplehouse head waiting to be hybrid. A lot of them are tinies, which fit so easily on a shelf and are about the size of a soda can. I’m also on the DoA forum.
artwork/prints/books – I like to keep them in portfolios, since I’ll never have the room to display all of them, but this way, I can still enjoy them. I’ll include my shitajiki here as well, since someone mentioned those. I have some original art by Ron Spencer, some prints by Stephanie Pui-Man Law, Ruth Thompson, and Theresa Mathur, to name a few.
Kimono/obi and other japanese textiles – I currently have only 1 kimono, but I do have a few obi and accessories.
Action figures – don’t have a lot, but I do enjoy the ones I get. Mostly Bleach, Final Fantasy, and Fullmetal Alchemist, with a few older ones (like my two X-men).
Breyer horses – a small collection, mostly holiday and race-horses
Unicorns, wolves, foxes, owls, dragons – action figures, figures, plushies… assorted things
Broadway Playbills – I keep the programs from all the shows I see, whether on Broadway, on tour, or local. They all fit in a photobox.
musical instruments – I have a small variety of musical instruments (I was a music education major before I switched to computers for health reasons). Most are Flutes and Recorders, including a wooden alto recorder I picked up when I went to Austria while wandering around Salzburg.
weapons – I do knife throwing. This also includes my sword I bought from a forge (it’s my baby!). Once my room is done, I hope to display it proudly when my brother has either moved out or I do. I don’t want it to end up missing and he doesn’t know that I even own it. Ignorance is bliss!
bottles – Just old or interesting bottles. I have an old whale oil bottle (sadly, it recently got broken, so I keep it safe until I can hopefully replace it), and interesting shaped ones, like a violin shaped one from a raspberry liquor I bought in Salzburg.More of stash than a collection, but Fabric – I do end up using it all. The nicer stuff I grab when I see it, so I have it for a future project, or if I know I will use it, but I’m undecided on which project to use it for. Most of it is scraps from other projects, but as I get my cosplays in order and I start to get my bedroom closer to being done, that pile does seem to be going down.
I don’t really collect them any longer, but I also have Magic the Gathering cards. I also have cards and Ral Parthas from White Wolf rpg games.
I also have a small library (half of it is old White Wolf RPG books).
Wampus, some of the older Soom monthlies can go for over $2000 on the 2nd hand market.
LIH – I have the top left two books as well, and possibly another couple of books. I get them from the bargain tables as well!
May 18, 2011 at 9:50 pm #845708Ah, I havent been around DoA for about a year and a half now, so I havent tracked how things are selling in the Marketplace. I sold all of my dolls, but from time to time I miss my Iplehouse Soo Ri and Ryushin and my DD-ANNE Lotus Near V. 1.0 (An eight armed tiny doll with dark chocolate skin).
May 18, 2011 at 9:51 pm #845710Obviously, I collect Transformers!
The shelf looks a little sparse, but that’s only because I can’t stand clutter. I actually have about 600+ figures I’ve been keeping around since was a kid. Usually every month or so I rearrange them so that everyone gets equal love, or to make little scenes like this:
Look at those cheeky Windstones trying to get in the picture! XD
May 18, 2011 at 9:58 pm #845712Probably a silly question, but would you guys enjoy having an “other collectables” section on the forum?
Not a silly question, but not necessary, as far as I’m concerned anyway. I’m member of a forum for every collection that I feel passionate about, that’s enough for me. 😉

Hurray for bargain tables!!! Which reminds me, it’s been a while since I’ve been near one…
May 18, 2011 at 10:03 pm #845714Hmm… want to edit my post and the forum isn’t letting me… grrrrr.
I meant scenceable, not skeeterdee on the MLPs 😛
May 18, 2011 at 10:46 pm #845721May 18, 2011 at 10:49 pm #845722Nah… I think the community section is fine… at least for me anyway. 🙂
May 18, 2011 at 11:55 pm #845730May 21, 2011 at 9:17 pm #845959Oops? XD Hahaha. I should take a picture of them.
I would love to see them. 🙂
There’s too many to take individual pictures, so I tried to divide them into ‘groups’. I couldn’t shrink the pictures for the forum without making it impossible to tell what was on them, so here’s a link to the album :
http://s95.photobucket.com/albums/l128/limerance/shitajiki/If there are any you want to see close-up, let me know. =) The regular boards are about 7×10, the mini boards are a little smaller than a DVD case (since they almost all came as a freebie with a DVD). The clear plate sets are somewhere in between. I think I missed a few, though…I double some of them up in their plastic bags, and forgot to turn them over. e.e; I know there’s some CLAMP ones I have that aren’t in those pictures…hmm. I’ve also got doubles (sometimes triples) of some boards (mostly the CCS ones, and some of the mini boards)…because I often forget what I already have. >.>; Some of these were gifts, and are not necessarily from series I like, but felt obligated to keep. 6.6; I usually buy based on the art on a board – even if it’s from a series/artist I know nothing about, if the art is good, I’ll buy it. Sometimes I’ll love a series, but hate all the boards…which sucks. XD Oh well.
Anyhoo, if you are ever looking to buy shitajiki, I’d recommend shopping here : http://www.shitajiki.biz
David is a real nice guy, although I think he’s pretty busy with the aftermath of the tsunami at the moment. I emailed him a few days ago and haven’t heard a peep yet…and he hasn’t added new boards since February. However, I’d say that his prices are some of the best you’ll find, even with shipping from Japan. So if you see a board on ebay that you like, be sure to compare with him first – there are some sellers on ebay that will happily take you for a ride, claiming their boards are ‘rare’, ‘out of print’, or ‘hard to find’. It’s usually not true. 9_9 Some of them also sell rip-offs, or HK (Hong Kong/Chinese) boards. These are considered worthless by most shitajiki collectors. You can’t really tell from a picture that they’re unofficial (that is, the people printing them did not pay any sort of licensing fee to the copyright owners of the art, much less get permission); it takes some research or actually buying it to find out (the plastic is usually thinner, and the image quality just not quite as good). I ended up with a few of those when I was a newbie at this game. XD I once even ended up with a picture someone had printed out and then laminated. o_o;
