I know somebody on here once mentioned a company that insures collectibles. I can’t find the post though! Anybody have a link to it?

Mine are insured with a rider to my homeowners policy. It varies by company, but most of them have some form of this. There is a charge, based on the value of the items, which also varies by company.

Note: This is one that was mentioned in another thread and I had bookmarked. I haven’t contacted them or anything…

I use USAA. I think that may be the topic you are referring to.

Get a PUP Personal Umbrella Policy to insure anything not covered, or in addition to your renters/condo/homeowners policy. Note: these policies will only replace the actual cost of the item, for example, if something has a box and certificate that increases the value, they will not pay you anything if you have a flood that destroys the box and cert even though it may drasticaly decrease the value of the item. If the item sustains damage as well, they will pay you whatever you payed for it (if you have reciept) or if you have a base price (like astral castle does). BUT they will not pay for the change in value over time unless the item can be appraised at a later date saying that the value has increased (like fine art or jewelry). Hope that made sense…

Yeah, makes sense. But I kind of like the other place, that specializes in collections better, just because they seem to recognize stuff like increases in value and so on.

I was just remembering what I’d read on their site last time it was mentioned, Nirvana. It’s the link lamorte put up, http://www.collectinsure.com/index.html I’m thinking about it myself, and somebody elsewhere had asked about insuring BJD collections, (no dirty thoughts!) so I wanted to pass them the link.
