Those pics are gorgeous (The snakes AND lizards)!! I’ve worked in a pet store or two, but mostly they had the common stuff: iguanas, leopard geckos, bearded dragons, corn snakes, red tail boas, anoles. I’d never even seen about half the pics posted. How cool!

Growing up I had a bunch of different lizards at different times: half a dozen anoles at once, a single green iguana, a couple skinks at a time, etc. Really wanted a snake for a while but never got around to it (tho I had a yen for albinos in particular, their coloring is so beautiful). Thank you all for sharing – we can live vicariously through you! 😀

Love the snakes. I’d love too have one but I’m thinking hubby wouldn’t agree. 😳

Beautiful animals here! We just got our son (and me 😀 ) a ball python. Shes just a baby.
When we got her (2 weeks ago) she had just shed. So far she still has her eye caps on…. What can we do to help her out?
I’m thinking of putting her in the bathroom while we shower to help humidity wise, but can we put something on her to get them off?

You can give her a soak in tepid water for about 15-30 minutes, just enough water to come halfway up her sides. Be sure they’re retained eyecaps, since you can really damage an eye if it’s not. Wrap a piece of tape around your finger, sticky side out, and roll it across the eye from nose to tail. Wearing a rubber glove and doing the same can remove them too. You basically want some tacky, but not too much. Just enough to get it going.

Rubbing a small amount of mineral oil on the caps and giving that a bit to soak in can help with removal, too.

            Here’s my baby. 🙂

Seth, my reverse okeetee corn snake. He’s over a year old and getting bigger every day! I need to take some updated pics of him, he’s grown since these!

I’m also working on getting this little guy. 😀

Wow, what sort of snake is your prospective new acquisition, MG?

He’s an albino ball python. 🙂

Huh. Must be so bright because its still a baby? I don’t think I’ve ever seen one quite that color before. Neat!

Yes it’s because he’s still a baby, his colors will tone down quite a bit as he gets older. He hatched 5 weeks ago, although he’s not quite ready to come home yet. He had his first shed, but the breeder wants to wait until he has one more meal before leaving. I’ll post pics of him once he arrives! 🙂

I figured he was like corn snakes, who change color as they get older. They’re always so bright and saturated when they’re babies.

Nope, they can hang onto it into adulthood. Although I think the baby pic shown had the contrast tweaked a bit, because their eyes aren’t quite that ruby red. More of a pink and gold. Here’s my big albino female with her boyfriend.

Flash washes her out, but she’s actually almost orange. I’m hoping for some visuals from my lavender albino het pair this season, those guys are purple and orange! :yum:

I’ve never seen an albino carry that much contrast into adulthood. I’ve seen many adult albino pythons and have yet to see one that vibrant. I’d be delighted if he looks as bright as an adult, but I won’t count on it so as not to be disappointed. To be specific I’m talking about your snake, Kachina. She’s gorgeous! The ones I’ve seen in person look really washed out and not near as bright, like a faded mustard color.

My crested babies just hatched! These are siblings of the same clutch(always two eggs per clutch). The mother is about to lay two more eggs from this mating.

                            *squee* Baby cresties! So cute!

                            Here’s mine.

                            Esmarelda (Ezzie)
I’ve had her for a while now… 10-11 yrs. She’s a little bigger now than this pic shows.

Tezca, my rosy boa. She was drop-off at the nature center. I claimed dibs right away. 😀

Evil, my little Katrina rescue. Yes, the name fits. XD
He’s not AS BAD now that he’s grown up some, but you still need to suit-up if you must handle him. LOL

Meathead, big full-grown male crestie. He’s not the best colored crestie, but he needed a home… and I always wanted one. ^.^

These are my personal ones. I take care of many more at work (which keeps the “personal” number to a minimum… LOL.) I take care of everything from box turtles, aquatic turtles, a beardie, uromastyx, corns, water snakes, pines, balls, a gopher tortoise, and I LOVE the tiger salamanders with their big faces!

We recently lost our black-masked racer. He was an awesome snake. We had him since he was a baby. We never used him for presentations, but you could actually handle him (minimally) without him spazzing out or biting. I miss him. 🙁
