I thought about watching it but it was $2.99 and I know I have it on DVD but I wasn’t sure which stack it was in and I was too lazy to go look :). So I ended up watching the Glee DVD that was already in the player. In my defense I have been sick for the last week so my energy is pretty low right now. But if I can find it I will probably watch it sometime this week.
May 2, 2011 at 12:19 pm #844184I raised my kids on Classic movies. When we lived in MI we could get them through the library for a dollar a week! Love all of the above. some of their favorites (and mine 😉 ) Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Arsenic and Old Lace and Cyrano de Bergerac with Jose Ferrar. Recently watched Cyrano again with my younger daughter and she loved it

John Barrymore is another of my faverites .
Douglas Fairbanks Jr in Gunga Dun or my very faverite Prisoner of Zenda . Oh I adore that movie .I have never seen “Prisoner of Zenda” – how does it compare to the book?
May 5, 2011 at 5:08 pm #844483Lets how does it compare to the book . I love both . Douglas Fairbanks jr plays Rupert . Ronald Colman plays the king and Rudoff Rasendyll . This is the 1937 movie . Romantic . Douglas Fairbanks JR is just incredible . Less of minor charactors . Some changes like at the more sword fighting and Rupert is maybe not such a pyscho . Charming , deadly and not to be trusted .
They are both incredible stories .
I saw the movie then read the book . I have a copy still . The humor and the swashbuckling scenes are classic in the movie . The final fight between Rasendyll and Rupert is brillent . And they never fought with swords in the book .
And the end of the fight is just such fun .I hope that helps . I’m not that good at reviews . lol .
Ok and if you can’t tell Rupert is my faverite .
May 6, 2011 at 7:49 pm #844634TCM is showing The Prisoner of Zenda May 18th . The 1937 version.
May 14, 2011 at 3:58 pm #845298Had some fun going to a theater last week to watch a classic movie in it . My Man Godfrey one of my faverite movies .
3.00 plus free small drink and small popcorn .
Oh it was funny . I love William Powell .May 14, 2011 at 5:59 pm #845310I love classic movies, musicals most of all, but many others too.
Anything with Fred Astaire or Jimmy Stewart.
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Kiss Me Kate are two of my guilty pleasures.
In a completely different category: Marnie is also a favourite of mine.
I wish we had theatres show classic movies here, but it never happens. :~
