Oh your tree is so beautiful!!! I like it a lot! π
We had a tree, but it got ruined last winter, so we have to buy another one, but I am afraid we can’t this Christmas due to KC’s job. I am hoping we can, because it is Chloe’s first Christmas, and I REALLY want to get those “baby’s first Christmas” ornaments.
I know…”boo hoo” I’m sorry. π But if it just so happens that we can get a tree to decorate, then I will post pictures!
I really want to see everybody else’s trees! 8)
Check around at Thrift/ second hand stores, or even Walmart for the little itty bitty trees, even if it is for just one year. I think you can get a small table top tree for something like $8 or less that assembles in like 2 minutes. I’ve seen lots of stuff like that in thrift/second hand stores near me. If you have a large, sturdy indoor plant, you could try decorating that, to be creative. Make paper ornaments with construction paper, paper, marker, glitter, paint, etc., like the garlands that kids make in school. Popcorn and dried fruit (or just popcorn) work too. Another idea is like the easter trees that some people put up with blown eggs on them. You take a stick with lots of twigs on it (or a bunch) and put it in a can filled with dirt or sand (anything that will keep it sturdy and still) and decorate it with light ornaments. I’ve used paper clips for hooks before. String and ribbon work well too. Just some ideas for if you are stuck to a very slim budget! :}
I think most people are looking to be thrifty this year, whether by choice or by need.
Hehe…the dogs might eat the dried fruit and popcorn, but I like these suggestions a lot!

I told her not to set it up because Danny was depressed and didn’t want to be reminded of the holidays but she came over while I was with him in the hospital and set it up anyway. I still have it around here somewhere, if you want it eagle I can send it to you. Danny wants me to burn it anyway so at least it will go to good use. Its one of those trees that you can set up on a table, maybe 2 feet tall or something like that.
That is so sweet PD!! If it doesn’t put you out of too much time or money, I would happy accept it! Thank you!
December 2, 2008 at 8:48 am #743608I don’t do trees with my 4 cats it would be a mess. I don’t get any cards either
December 2, 2008 at 1:08 pm #743609Cool idea!
This year, we (really meaning “I”) decided to use the top of the maple tree that’s dying in our yard. I have to paint it, then we’ll decorate it. I’ll post pics then.
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

And that pineapple tree is fantastic too!No tree for me this year, since I’m going to California to spend Christmas with family. (I only do live trees.)
You can see my tree from last year here if you’re interested:

For some reason my two cats don’t really bother my trees–except for the one year I got a white pine, those long skinny needles are too much like grass to them, and it was no fun having them puke ’em up at 2 am. :puke:
December 2, 2008 at 3:16 pm #743612We have always gone with the kids and picked out a tree the day after Thanksgiving and spend the weekend getting it, the house and yard decorated. This year I don’t even have stuff out of the attic yet. π Hubby’s in Idaho and my older kids were working overtime, which is a good thing anyway. My younger daughter is traveling with the group Casting Crowns this week, left Thanksgiving Day, and my younger son and I have been too sick to do much of anything. Blah :puke: Ah well things will be back to the normal chaos soon and I’ll get a picture than. Meantime I’ll just enjoy y’alls π

We’ve always had several indoor cats and get a real tree every year. They like to sleep under it on the tree skirt but leave it alone otherwise. Usually.
My little black cat Mocha likes to climb up in the branches by the trunk. π One year she was about a third of the way up when my son reached in to hang an ornament and startled her. She came flying out of the tree right towards him, got tangled in the lights and and the whole thing pitched of balance into his arms. He was trying to get the cat lose with one hand and keep the tree up with the rest of him XD We did get over there to help before it was all down πDecember 2, 2008 at 3:29 pm #743614What a surprise for your poor son! π

Great ideas. We’ve used several of those over the years. Especially the first few we were married and broke.
We still have a Star made from Popsicle sticks that my husband made when he was in Boy Scouts forty years ago. Spay painted gold and glued glitter on it. The kids found it at Gramma’s house when they were little and brought it home. Now it is tradition to hang it as the last ornament to go on the tree. πDecember 2, 2008 at 3:34 pm #743616Adaneth wrote:What a surprise for your poor son! π
Yeah, and the cat LOL I don’t know who was more terrified π She still likes to get in the lower branches and sleep
December 2, 2008 at 5:24 pm #743617We haven’t put ours up yet, since we are still trying to paint that room. And since it’s the first year with the new kitten, we may just skip it this year.
December 2, 2008 at 6:41 pm #743618Ah, great trees π And that pineapple one was a hoot π
