WINDSTONE MADE CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS!!!! YES YES YES!!!!
sorry for yelling 😳 I love Christmas ornamentsMy grandmother was one for tossing everything, boy to the day they died they never lived down tossing the Santa tree topper we had when I was a kid. I did manage to save a few old balls, though, that I treasure. I still have a few of the balls I handpainted in my teens also. I made my daughter a couple My Little Pony ornaments out of Sculptey she looks for also.
December 22, 2008 at 4:47 am #746943I found mine! It looks like this… battery powered… you don’t wanna hear it chirp.
Ok so it doesn’t chirp. It died. Apparently it’s from when me and my brother were small. And yes it is on my laptop webcam so please forgive the crappiness of the photo.
December 22, 2008 at 10:41 pm #746944There are 2 in particular that are special to me and my mom-
Once in Girl Scouts, we had a secret Santa swap. The person who got me, happened to be one of my best friends, Brittany. She had gotten an angel ornament, with a yellow dress and auburn colored hair, with a green ribbon on her dress (if Im remembering correctly) in 3rd Grade, Brittany’s dad got a job transfer from Houston to Jonesboro, Arkansas. We wrote letters back and forth for about 4 years, but eventually lost touch (before computers and cell phones were so prevalent) and so now she is but a fond memory. I named the little angel Brittany, after her, and always hang her near the top, but in a place I can always see her.My mom, I found out this year, has a special ornament too (other than some of the obvious keepsakes) and that is a giant silver star I made when I was about 5 years old-just a wee pup. From my vague memory, I had tried several times, unsuccessfully to draw a giant star. I either finally got it right, or asked my Grandpa (someone dear to everyone in the family-he passed away in January of 1991 or 1993) to help. We cut the star out of a cereal box and neatly covered it in aluminum foil. My mom has had it all these years, and would put it up on the top of the tree-just under the angel, if we had one that year. This year, we’ve moved “temporarily” into a lease house, and decided not to get too comfy in the house. (We love the house, but its soooooooooooooooo far from EVERYTHING except the next town to the north *snickers* Almost in The Woodlands if anyone’s ever been this way) so this year, all our special ornaments are packed away in either the garage or storage room and my mom couldn’t find my star….so she made another one lol But she said it just didn’t look right on top of the tree, so its nestled in some plants on top of our entertainment center.
December 22, 2008 at 11:47 pm #746945All of the ornaments made during my childhood years are special to my mother. My favorite childhood ornament was when we had to bake Santa-shaped cookie ornaments for our parents. It was just plain dough, but once it was cooked I took a bite of it anyway! We still have that ornament, Santa with the partially nibbled on foot!
December 24, 2008 at 5:56 am #746946My favorites are the ones I remember from my childhood that were always on my grandparents’ tree. They’re mostly small glass hand painted ones from Germany.
And then there are the 2 tiny cross stitch ornaments my grandmother made for me and signed and dated them. They were made before her RA got too bad to do stuff with her hands anymore. And since she’s gone nearly 11 years, now, those ornaments are particularly dear to me. They go way up top so there’s no chance of them getting knocked off and shredded by cat or dog. -
