Even though I am basically a grinch… I love Christmas ornaments, especially ones with history. Have you got a special one with a story? Hand made, or very old and handed down? Or even newly made and on its way to become an heirloom! Post a picture and tell the story!

I was born during the Cabbage Patch craze, and for my first birthday my mother made cloth Cabbage Patch kids as party favors. She also made a Cabbage Patch angel, which has sat on our/her tree every single year. Right now it’s over at her house, but I’ll get a picture if I can. She even signed their butts. 😀

The majority of the ornaments on our tree were handmade by the kids as we were growing up. In fact our angel is one that my brother made when he was 7 out of a toilet paper roll! We still get together as a family at the parents place to put up and decorate the tree

We have one on my grandmother’s tree, it’s there every year, that my great grandmother used to own. It was a silver filigreed ball that when you hit a switch, would tweet like a bird…. it still works (although you no longer want to hit the switch…. gah). I’ll see if I can get a pic of it. It was always my favorite.

I have a very good friend who makes adorable little sculptures, and she sculpted a little ornament of my robit, Lillian.

You better believe I cherish this one. <3

The only thing I can recall that was special at least to me growing up was the little felt (I guess it was) Elf. I was always the one to put him on his purch on the eagle mirror we had in the living room. He sat there perfectly watching all the people taking notes of who was good or bad

Did he look like one of these?

My parents have several elves that resemble the one that comes in this elf on a shelf kit. I’m not sure when they got them as they have been on their Christmas trees all my life, along with lots of nursary rhyme based ornaments.

I read the thread title and was going to say “From Windstone? Yes, please.” 😀
The ornaments on the family Christmas tree all stem from Mom, as far as I know. There might be a few she got from relatives that hold special meaning for her, but none of them have a special value to us younger generation.
Our stockings were all handmade by Mom, though, so they’re special.

OMG I totally have 2 of those things, both with their original boxes, they were my sons great grandmas, they gave them to me when I was with his dad, sadly she passed away the other day.

My mom made all the grandkids cross stitched stockings when they were born, my sister and brother have stockings that match, they are read with their names embroidered on them, they got them before i was born. I remember putting them on a wearing them when I was a kid, LOL. My stocking I got on my second Christmas from one of my aunts, it is a felt one with and elf on it, and merry christmas painted on with gold glitter glue, you can totally tell that it was meant to be thrown because it is glued together, but it is hanging in there after 31 years.

My other half does not have a stocking from when he was a kid and it saddens me, his mom makes us or buys us new ones every year we are there. So I bought him a good one this year that he can keep it just seems so sad to not have the memories with the same stocking every year 😥

Ruffian, that doggy ornament is awesome!

I now have the angel my mom got me to pick when I was 5 years old. It’s cardboard and the head is a bit wobbly, but it still looks great and it’s at the top of my tree!

Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

My bf has a couple of ornaments that his great-grandmother made.

My family didn’t really celebrate Christmas when I was a kid. Got worse as I grew older. One year (I think I was 16), they just left my gifts, unwrapped outside my bedroom door for me to find in the morning.

Luckily my bf’s family goes all out, huge tree, stockings (his mom made me one when she found out I’d never had one before), waking up early Christmas morning…all that great stuff.

And now my brother goes all out for his kids too. I love seeing them on Christmas morning, paper flying everywhere. 😀
