Now I’m thinking of that children’s story where everything the kid touched turned to chocolate. He ate his gloves while waiting for the bus.
November 23, 2011 at 8:45 pm #863539How ’bout fluorescent pink thongs?
I’m 57. No.
What about for your no-panties poads?
November 23, 2011 at 10:10 pm #863555Is it illegal to mail alcohol to the states?
I think I read somewhere that it’s illegal to send any sort of food across the border, but I’ve sent and received tons and never had an issue. Has anyone done it? I mean I’m not saying I’m doing to mail windstone a ton of booze or anything I’m just curious now!
We have these chocolate eggs in canada called kinder eggs, apparently not only do they not sell them in USA, but it’s illegal to, they’re considered “contraband” and someone got a huge fine for taking them over the border. Because they have a toy inside, and in the states you can’t put toys inside food or something.
Now I’m wondering if they make maple flavoured alcohol. XD

Toys inside of chocolate? Sweet! (Literally). As for not being able to put toys inside of food, I wonder how bakeries get away with King’s Cakes. As for not being to ship alcohol…I don’t know. It might require special licenses because I know that you can get Canadian alcohol here (ice wines as an example), but I don’t know if you need a distributor/importer license.

November 28, 2011 at 6:25 pm #863844People send stuff to us all the time. The best stuff is made out of chocolate.
What! Alcohol is the best present.
Do they make chocolate flavoured alcohol?
Yes they do – it is a wine called Choco Vine. It is a product of Holland and has the taste of dutch chocolate and fine red wine. YOu can buy it at Costcos and I saw it at Walgreen last Christmas they may carry it again this year. It is delicious.

That does sound delicious! We don’t have costcos or walgreens. Wait no, we have costco, but they don’t sell alcohol. Only at LCBO. But I’ll have to check it out, it sounds very christmassy 🙂

Oh my god you’re kidding!! The US doesn’t have kinder eggs!! Kinder eggs bring so much happiness to my life, to those who don’t know you have the toy comes all in pieces rolled up in the instructions and they all get curled up into a little egg pod. I got an albatross once when I was little and it had a tiny set of cogs in it, so when you rolled it along the table it’s wings flapped. It was the best.
Incidentally I think the US has Irn Bru on the banned list too because Scotland refuses to give up the ‘secret ingredient’. (It’s GIRDERS!)
(Not really.)
I want a kinder egg for Christmas and a naff 70s jumper with reindeers on it.
November 28, 2011 at 8:16 pm #863853We always get Kinder eggs for Christmas, even though the youngest of us is 37 by now! And we do love to play with the little toys, even my father who’s in his 70s. LOL!
But lets be honest: the chocolate egg isn’t very good.

Blech! I’m totally not a fan of this stuff. On the other hand, Godiva makes a fantastic chocolate liqeuer. Pour a tiny bit over vanilla ice cream or mix with a vanilla or orange liqeuer. Or drink on the rocks. Mmmm.
Edit: Ooh. Apparently you can make your own http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-make-delicious-chocolate-liqueur/

When I was young I loved the chocolate in them, I do even now. Considering they’re like a buck and it’s not much chocolate, I still got them all the time. In fact I bought one yesterday.
Anyway I tend to do a big LCBO shop when I visit home, especially for the holidays, so I’ll check out chocolate stuff. I generally hate baileys and anything too thick and milky though, but it’s worth a try. Alcohol is always a good gift because people tend to share XD A friend of mine and her parents love baileys and put it in their coffee all the time (like every single day) so I’ll try getting her something chocolatey.
I’m still quite sure it’s illegal to mail alcohol without declaring it. However as my mom pointed out no one brings alcohol INTO the states, there’s no point. Alcohol is way cheaper there and you can buy it at the grocery store, lol. The customs people are mostly concerned with people buying booze cheap in the states and bringing it into canada to sell at a profit.
But anyway, there are plenty of Canada-only types of chocolate than I can send!
November 28, 2011 at 10:25 pm #863862I believe I’ve seen a maple icewine… and maybe even had some, but that was a long time ago.

Aw I love the chocolate! It’s better than galaxy any day
November 28, 2011 at 10:58 pm #863873Well, I’m not familiar with Galaxy so I can’t argue with you there 😉
