    That’s a great store Lamortefille!

It is pretty noticeable the crap feeling for most people this year, though, even on Black Friday, I ran into quite a few really nice people when I was out (6am, the store I was at, EVERYONE was sooo polite, and the store was PACKED!). The outside of my house isn’t decorated (just haven’t had time with storms and all) and we didn’t bother with the big tree this year (too much of a hassle with family stuff happening), so we just have a small tree up, decorations in the living room and dining room (not a ton, but enough to be festive), wreaths on the doors, and candles (electronic) in the windows. I made a huge snowman from the last storm and mom and I made dark, German chocolate buttercreme candies over the weekend. Cookies are on deck this week. My mom goes into ‘everything must be perfect expectation mode’ this time of year, but I seem to keep my dad sane, so we both survive 😆

I still have one windstone that needs to be painted before Christmas, but my friend won’t get it until probably the day after (unless she feels inclined to meet me half way in Lennox, MA on Christmas eve or something ). I only have 2 gift cards to get, so I’m holding off until the last second, since they will be mailed anyways when we get the ‘official’ word that those relatives aren’t coming late. I did miss the village Dutch Christmas festivities with going to NYC, but there are quite a few displays around my area, and some of the stores in NYC were pretty festive looking. I also drive home at night, so I get to see them all lit at midnight, when hardly anyone is on the road ). I don’t really celebrate Christmas per say, but I do celebrate the solstice and this time of year, and most of the christmas traditions around here are my heritage (Germanic/Dutch/Polish, etc.) so it all works (and I like pretty packages and lights!). I get to help dad shop every year. I love shopping for other people and myself and wrapping up presents! I just stay out of crowded areas if I can help it this time of year (I think the roads are what bug me the most this time of year). I just embrace the simple things (snow, crisp winter nights, christmas lights, watching the annual cartoon barrage on tv, the 24 hour Christmas Story Marathon, etc.) and don’t try to expect perfection in the holidays and make the most of what I’ve got to work with.

That’s a wonderful thing to do, DM! 😀 It’s amazing how doing something (seemingly) small can make a big difference to somebody.

Don’t you do a lot of charity work? That means you keep the Christmas Spirit alive all year long!
This will be like my 16th year doing it.
Yes I do charity work all the time I’m usually at 3-4 or more functions a weekend. I want to start heading to retirment from that many though. They cost more then I can afford right now. I need to pace myself better. I just had to figure out a way to buy a new vacuum since mine stopped working correctly after 2 years but with 4 cats I can’t complain. It was only a $75 vacuum.
This year we have 135 patients. Last year we only had 85

I’ve got all my gifts, and only one (still in transit after I ordered it) waiting to be wrapped. My tree has been up and my room decorated since the weekend after Thanksgiving, and I’m very much looking forward to Christmas (if for no other reason than it’ll be the first Monday in months where I don’t have to head off to work at 0630 hours). I’d say I’m in the mood. 😆
For everybody who isn’t, I hope you all get some Christmas cheer in this next week. 😉

Monday?? Christmas is on a Tuesday or do you get the enire week off??
