We still love you Chessie =D
February 6, 2007 at 10:23 pm #535945Haha… have you read the Silmarillion, then? It took me six months but damn, it was FUN.
Tolkien’s also written a couple of other stories that don’t have anything to do with LOTR, but I can never remember what the book was called! It’s two novellas published together. Farmer something. Zaaah I need to read that again. It’s practically a one-sit read, and great.

Yep, I made my way through the Silmarillion and the Book of Lost Tales. Farmer Giles of Ham is the other one, I think.

I know…my fingers have a mind of thier own when typing….. can I change the title of the post?
February 6, 2007 at 10:32 pm #535949Yes, that’s it! Yay! All right, I shall grudgingly admit that you’ve read more Tolkien than I have, since I haven’t made it through the Book of Lost Tales yet. But I shall! I read the first part about oooh. Drat. What’s his name. Was that Fingon? I remember him running on the beach with a flight of swans, and it was just about the most beautiful thing I’ve ever read…

You can, but don’t bother. One of my piano teachers once gave me an award that had “Chesi Alberti” written on it… I can manage. I just had to poke you about it because it was too hard to resist!
February 6, 2007 at 10:36 pm #535951I can’t remember the name either. And the Book of Lost Tales is very slow reading. It is worth it though.
February 6, 2007 at 10:41 pm #535952Yeah, well, so is the Silmarillion… but it’s always worth it when you’re dealing with Tolkien! There’s a lot to be learned from the way he uses words, it’s just… gah. So pretty. And it’s lovely to nerd out over the geneaologies and all that. The hardest thing about reading the Silmarillion for me was remembering who was elvish and who wasn’t, because the elves are immortal… I know more than once I got confused and went “HEY WAIT, I thought this guy was human, wtf is he doing still alive this many years later?!” Haha.

It does get confusing at times. π― Anyway, when you the start the Book of Lost Tales 1 & 2, let me know. I may go back and re-read them. I’m sure there’s a lot I missed the first time. π
