I had a pet fan shrimp /giant african shrimp/vampire shrimp. My MIL was scared to death of him, but the funny thing is that he couldn’t harm another creature if he wanted to. He filtered tiny particles out of the water with his fans to eat.

      His name was Kraken.

Here’s one of my videos of a similar species, a ‘bamboo’ shrimp, eating.

He looks like his photo should be captioned: “ANGRY!!” 😉
Reminds me of the very rainy day I was biking across campus and cut along the path above the creek, only to discover a large red crawdad square in the middle of the path, lunging at the bicycle! He was not amused either. 😆

LOL That’s kind of creepy, I’d wig out seeing him lunge at me! I’d tell myself, at least I’m on my bike! 😆

Haha! Sadly the only shrimp I have right now are about 1/2″ long at the biggest. If you fried them up you’d end up with about 2 molecules worth of food… XD

Yellow Shrimp– so yes, yellow cherries. 🙂 I have a breeding colony. They are great.

Don’t know how true this is but someone told me recently that shrimp belong to the cockroach family! Guess this might apply to crawdads as well urp :puke: It made me mad because I love shrimp but can’t get that ugly thought out of my mind! 🙄

Gah! I’d be miffed, too, considering how much shrimp gets eaten around here. :spank:
I think you’re safe, though. As far as I can recall, shrimp are a crustacean, while roaches are insects and not related. even though shrimp and crawdads look like bugs before you chop their little heads off 😀 ….
I had something similar to that happen over tapioca pudding, the large pearl stuff. I used to love it. Then someone said it looked like fish eggs, and they did. When I was a kid my dad fished for trout using salmon eggs, and yeah…they did kinda look like the tapioca. I haven’t been able to eat the stuff ever since. One of those “what has been seen cannot be unseen” things.

Mind over matter, as they say! (That perspective never really worked for me.) 😆

They are not part of the cockroach family but they are nicknamed “mudbugs” XD
