What the heck?? 😕 I thought they ENCOURAGED dealers to sell here, and for people to buy through dealers if they could… D:< Sorry, emerald...I've definitely got you bookmarked.
From what I understand**, this is true and not true. Dealers are most welcome here and should anyone wish to purchase through them that is no problem at all. Windstone does indeed encourage you to shop at bricks-and-mortar stores! 🙂 I think the only issue may lie with heavy-handed advertisement, as the forum is a place created to encourage individual collectors to trade and sell pieces from their personal collections. 🙂
No worries Vaprodragon, you are most welcome to post photos of your collection!!

I’m still not entirely sure I understand, though I appreciate to a certain extent what you’re saying. A lot of folks on this forum don’t have access to a brick and mortar dealer, and wouldn’t even know there were dealers here, outside of Windstone, to get their production pieces if they didn’t advertise once in a while.
I guess I’m still confused as to why it’s all of a sudden a problem now when it hasn’t been previously. That’s all.

That would be a question for John, not me. 🙂 As they say, “I just work here!” 😉

My art: featherdust.comAugust 25, 2007 at 4:02 pm #611374I think the problem was when she listed what she had for sale. At first I thought it was because she was offering a discount, but in the past I’m guessing that most actual business transaction (what someone wanted to order, lay-aways, etc)were done via PMs, so there was no ‘commercial advertising’ via the forum. I think in posting what she had leftover from the Con, it just crossed a gray line.
Just my two cents worth.

But emerald (and a few others, definitely not just her) have been “advertising” here for…well, since they joined, I suppose. I think it would have been much nicer for John to have posted a gereral announcement if he didn’t want personal advertising here instead of suddenly singling out Emerald. 🙁

-J R R TolkienAugust 25, 2007 at 5:32 pm #611376My thoughts exactly. If he didn’t like her listing stock, he could’ve asked her not to instead of suddenly telling her not to advertise here at all. Seems a bit harsh, IMHO.

I think you are likely correct. The emphasis being on the word “Sale”.
It is never in a manufacturers best interest to allow their new and generally available product to be devalued by a retailer advertising at lower than regular price on that manufacturer’s web site.

This is a great point, Dave.

I have gone back and edited my post to remove a serious ambiguity in that phrase.

To be fair, none of us would have known emerald had been singled out if she had not posted this thread. For all we know, She may not have been “singled out”.
August 26, 2007 at 2:29 pm #611381True!! 🙂
August 27, 2007 at 3:21 pm #611382Just to let you all know, I’m not going to comment on this any more, either publically or in PM’s. It makes me feel really bad. And I’d appreciate it if it was dropped and we just move on.
