This summer, I signed up with my daughter for a pottery class. I hadn’t touched the stuff since grade school!

So after following instructions and doing a candle-holder fish (which unfortunately blew up in the kiln), I gained enough confidence to fiddle with masks.

I only posted the links because Warp10 didn’t resize them…

This one turned out pretty nice. It’s red clay with a speckled clear coating.

This one… I dunno. She said I could add some glaze to make it darker if I wanted.

And this one was my pride and joy, however, I couldn’t get my head around the color scheme. I like the shape, but there’s def. something missing in the colors (or lack thereof).

And a not-mask… something useful! That one was the last thing I made. It’s funny how things came back over the week. I really enjoyed this.

Those are nice! I really like the third mask 🙂

I like the 3rd one. The simplicity of the coloring is a nice compliment to the complexity of the design. I think it would look weird with much more then that.

Wow, these bring back memories of when I was a kid and y mom used to teach ceramics. All the masks are just lovely!

I love the third one! I think if you used a gold leaf pen and did just the edges of the top shapes and ruff of the bottom, and around the eyes, you would get the finished look you are after. I love the color scheme, so simple and elegant.

If you do the gold, I really wanna see pictures!
