So… I went to the Irish fair in Pomona over the weekend. And had probably the BEST time I have EVER had at a fair in a long time!
Best of all, Gaelic Storm was there. My favorite group! Even better, I got all their autographs on a shirt while there! 😀 And I also got hooked on a new band called the Dublin 4.
I just wish the group Tempest had been there. It would have put me in 7th heaven.
Anyone else here a celtic rock fan?
(No real point to this post. I’m just all a-squee! I got to see one of my favorite groups!)
March 10, 2008 at 10:36 pm #676714I went to see Gaelic Storm a few weeks ago on campus at St. Cloud State U. in MN. It was a great concert. People got up and danced in the aisles. Fun!
I do like Celtic music and Celtic Rock. Most of my friends are in some Celtic band or another (local ones). They play at the MN Renaissance Festival too. Reve du Faun and Bedlam are two that come to mind, who are made up mostly of my friends. They are friends on my MySpace page.
March 10, 2008 at 10:50 pm #676715I like Tempest – have some of their albums and went to a great concert a few years ago. Got into them after reading Mercedes Lackey.
March 11, 2008 at 12:01 am #676716I love Gaelic Storm! Used to listen to the McKrells (they broke up recently), but I guess Kevin McKrell started a new group… Kevin McKrell and the Hard Road Ceilidh Band (http://kmckrell.com/). I also enjoy Hair of the Dog (http://www.hair-of-the-dog.com/) and Enter the Haggis (http://www.enterthehaggis.com). I’m not sure how many of them get out to the West coast, so included links. Kevin McKrell is out of Saratoga Springs.
While not Celtic, but along a similar strain of sorts, I also like listening to Great Big Sea.
March 11, 2008 at 1:01 am #676717I’m a huge fan of Celtic rock. One of the Anthropology professors at CSUN was a founding member: Steve Wehmeyer. I would have gotten his autograph but I went and made a huge mistake that got him into trouble. I was going through a time when they were adjusting my medications and I was working at 8am everyday but because of this my mind wasn’t kicking in until around ten. Steve called in to ask me to tell his class that he wasn’t going to make it. I answered the phone and was going to hang up a notice and such an hour before his class but then I fell asleep and completely forgot the phone call ever happened until weeks later when I found out that he got lectured by the dean for not canceling his class. I felt horrible and never got up the courage to talk to him. I’m going to send him a letter of apology.
It was the worst mistake I had ever made on a job and before this I was really well liked and trusted by everybody. I would have asked to have my hours changed but no one else would take that shift and they needed me.
I would help but I am just to tired to get out of bed today~
Engaged to a WeaselMarch 11, 2008 at 1:35 am #676718Love celtic rock! We see Gaelic Storm almost every year (they play at the Albuquerque Zoo Nights… get to sit on the grass, listen to great music, dance, and go watch animals when they’re actually active!)
Also like Runrig, Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem, Great Big Sea (old stuff, not their new stuff), Pogues, etc. Fun!March 11, 2008 at 1:44 am #676719BiPolarBear wrote:I felt horrible and never got up the courage to talk to him. I’m going to send him a letter of apology.
BPB, def send a letter or call. Everyone makes mistakes and he’ll probably be very understanding. And really, if you don’t, it’ll eat you up forever, which is not good for you.
March 11, 2008 at 2:26 am #676720I love Emerald Rose. Their Celtic Folk Rock is awesome!!! 😀
March 11, 2008 at 2:37 am #676721I was at an Celtic Renaissance Faire/ Music Festival in Sonora, CA this weekend. They had Tempest, Black Irish band, Wicked Tinkers, Malinky, Golden Bough, and a few others… they were all really good. 🙂 It was worth the 10 hours of driving, I think.
