Does anybody know what customs category Windstones fall under or have any Canadians received a parcel recently to know the percentage they charge? I’m trying to predict base expenses for PYO’s and, though it’s a couple years old, my last record completely blows past the 7% taxes for BC (depending if they’re counting shipping it’s 14-20%) so I’m wondering what the heck’s going on.
September 4, 2016 at 4:06 pm #1497338They charge GST/HST (so 13 % in Ontario) plus $9.95 in handling on the equivalent of the amount in Canadian dollars, so I guess that depending on the exchange rate that day, it changes a wee bit.
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

I host the feedback lists, which are maintained by drag0nfeathers.

Thanks a bunch Medley!September 4, 2016 at 10:57 pm #1497381I live in British Columbia too and I so far have never been charged anything for customs ordering from Windstone, but that may just be dumb luck. I think it’s kind of hard to predict, although maybe it’s more likely on more expensive orders? I think the most expensive thing that I have ever ordered was a cougar. So you might not get charged at all, but I guess that might just turn out as a happy surprise if you’re really used to getting dinged.

Excellent!
September 4, 2016 at 11:58 pm #1497387Facolf – That actually makes sense since I couldn’t find a customs charge on an order less than $100 CAD from 2013.
If any Canadian is interested I made a spreadsheet to keep track of exchange rates and customs (just leaving the >$100 crossed out until I can confirm this theory): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WuSwCvdtiH5pO_1-T2j9xw75ssRhLKnYYIMjqtlLXT4/edit?usp=sharing
Of course shipping will be different for everyone so feel free to copy it and go halfway through checkout in the store to get each piece’s rate (some have the same rate- just look for duplicate numbers on mine). If you need to calculate a different province tax %, such as for Ontario’s 13%: you’ll want to type 1.13 in column ‘P’ to get the amount plus tax, calculations are already programmed). I’ll only be updating rates the next time I’ll make an order.
