Calgary is paying good at the moment. even 7-11 is paying $10.00-$12.00/hr and benefits. Though trying to find a house or place to rent could be a bit of a problem. We’re at around a 1% or less vacancy. And if you don’t like the -40 weather, we have wonderful things called Chinooks. I was +9 today and I was running around without a coat! though it was -20 last week

It’s tough when family is involved.
My husband has his own company. His brother started the same type company a couple hours north of us. Problem is, he doesn’t know jack about computer stuff and the jobs he gets, Mike has to complete for him.
So Mike has to clear the day for his bro. Does bro pay him what he’s losing by helping? Nope 👿And brrrr. -40? Nothing is worth that! 😆 Sunny California for me!
I’m with you on that one, yay California weather!
February 22, 2008 at 1:49 pm #668257Yeah, working with family can be really though! Your husband has to get a reality check, though. If the normal wage where you are is 12$ for his skillset, well, that’s that. No matter where we are, we all like to think we’re worth more! Give him a swift kick in the butt! That’s what I did with mine when he was complaining on and on how he no longer liked it where he was.
Me, if I’m not happy at work, I go look for another one. Simple as that. Where I’m at now is the longer I’ve stayed – 5 years. The other places were too boring, or the last one, I burned myself out! Not worth it. And the cost of living is high in Toronto, luckily, I’m in the ‘burbs, so it is a bit cheaper. And I’ll shut up about my salary and stuff…
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

Yep everything was all melty yesterday, the summer is coming 😀
February 22, 2008 at 5:09 pm #668259Goodness, that is a difficult situation Kirin. I don’t blame you for being frustrated at all. I’m actually about to do something similar by going to work with my fiance. I’m actually afraid about it. I’m fairly certain he is going to drive me nuts! I hope things get better for you!
While hiding somewhere in my head I'm on the lookout for white oriental dragons! Please let me know if you know of any available. Thank you!
February 22, 2008 at 7:14 pm #668260Pfft MEN! I feel for ya girl. Hope it gets better as he adjusts.
February 23, 2008 at 1:35 pm #668261My son lives in Tennessee and he keeps trying to get me to move out there (I’m a California kid from 5 generations, I’m not going anywhere) but he says the unemployment is about 3% and he was able to buy a house that he and he wife would never have been able to buy here. He drives for a living and she teaches high school history in Nashville. It doesn’t snow often and when it does, it’s not much, beautiful in the fall! It’s a thought.
Another thought: It’s his problem to solve. When you make it yours, you end up with it, and the headache from the clenched teeth. Give the problem back to him all wrapped up in a box and see what he does with it. If he sees that you aren’t going to solve it for him, maybe he will take the steps he needs to solve it for himself. I mean REALLY let go of it, don’t talk about it with him or anything, just “um-hum” and listen. “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expectiong diferent results.” I’ll bet he has heard your opinion about what he should do quite a few times. What have you got to lose by doing something different? It’s a thought. It’ll make you feel better.February 23, 2008 at 3:32 pm #668262foxfeather wrote:Calgary is paying good at the moment. even 7-11 is paying $10.00-$12.00/hr and benefits. I need one of those Chinooks here. We’re having -20 weather here that is lasting for weeks ❗ I’ve lived in Indiana for most of my life and this is the coldest winter we’ve ever had.
