Up there in the left side of your screen is a link in yellow that says “User Control Panel”…click that. Then you have some more choices in yellow on the next screen…”Overview”, “Profile”, “Board preferences”, etc. Click on “Profile”. In the gray area below will be four choices on the left side…choose “Edit Avatar”, at which point the screen where you can either upload or link to an avatar should appear. Your avatar can be up to 100×100 pixels (that’s the most common size – notice that the default “Avatar dimensions” on that screen say 100 x 100 – you can change it if your avatar is a different size, of course)…I’m not sure if there’s a KB limit, but as long as it’s not animated or something crazy, you probably won’t reach it. If you are not sure of the avatar’s dimensions, I can help you figure that out, depending on whether you’re wanting to upload from your computer or just link to it. My avatar (and most others you see), is 100 x 100, if you want an example.
If you want to upload an avatar from your computer, click the “Browse” button next to that space – a File Upload window should pop up. Find the file you want to use as an avatar, select it, and then click the Open button on the File Upload pop-up window you are in. The address of the file on your computer should appear in that white space next to the “Browse” button after the pop-up closes. If the size of your avatar is different from 100×100, change it below at this point to the correct dimensions. Click submit.
If you just want to link to an avatar on, say…photobucket or whatever instead, just paste a “direct” link to the image in the “Link off-site” space, and then hit submit.
